We loved the Lodge had a fantastic time beautiful village nice walks for my dog.

Just wish the gardener had mowed the lawn.

A very nicely kept and spacious cottage, clean, bright, comfortable, and well equipped.

It was the perfect base to explore the southeastern corner of the Cotswolds. Walks directly from the doorstep made the morning and evening doggy walks easy and mostly off-lead. Only two little niggles. Parking is only available the road and was on the Easter weekend a bit limited, especially as we had 2 cars. Secondly, poochy was not allowed upstairs (please add that to the listing)

This is our third stay at The Lodge, CstA.

That says it all - it has never let us down.

Great cosy cottage in a perfect location .

Walks direct from the front door and really central location for all Cotswolds villages . The lodge was very very warm and cosy and had everything we needed making it very homely . It was very clean . The king size bed was very comfortable and the downstairs shower had great water power. The garden was perfect for our dogs ( but so good to have a large meadow at the end of the lane for them too) and it was nice to feed the birds with the seed provided. Kitchen cupboards were full of crockery and pots and dishes and 2 fridges and a freezer - we were spoilt for choice ! The welcome tray of biscuits crisps and juice and milk in the fridge was much appreciated . There are Plenty of books and information on walks and things to do in the area . Had a good meal at the pub just up the road and there is a community cafe and post office 5 mins walk up the road . All in all a great place for a very restful relaxing stay with lots of thoughtful touches and in spite of the non stop rain we had a lovely holiday.

Coln St Aldwyns is a lovely Cotswold village but make sure you take a torch if wanting to walk around the village at night as there are no street lights which we loved.

The Lodge was better than we expected and had everything you could possibly need from kitchen roll to cooking oil etc. it was beautifully warm (especially the underfloor heating) and the location was perfect. If you like walking there are lots from the door and really good if you have dogs as there is a walk just down the driveway. The walk to Bibury is only 2 miles and definitely would recommend. The beds were comfortable if a little low to what we are used to and the shower powerful with plenty of hot water. A well equipped kitchen with everything you would need if you wanted to cook. Having 2 separate rooms was great for us as I was working. Communication was good and ahead of our visit we were made aware that cable was being installed and the pub was closed. This didn’t affect our break and we would recommend the keepers arms in Quenington. We would love to return if ever needing to be in the area. The little shop in Coln was good too and they made a good cup of coffee!

the property is in a village called Coln St Aldwyns.

The address I was given did not include that detail which led us to go to Cirencester. which is 10 miles away. The accommodation was very good, comfortable (in the main) and warm. As older people we were unable to connect to wi-fi or understand how to get one of the tvs to work. the couches in the main sitting room were not comfortable to sit on as they had no high backing. we also struggled with the cooker and hob as we were not familiar with the instructions.

We were delighted to have had a week stay at The Lodge.

Such a beautiful property that gave us everything we needed for the duration of our stay. Perfectly situated for access to footpaths and nice and close to the New Inn. Would definitely recommend!

The property was very well equipped and we really appreciated the welcome basket, milk and essentials.

There was even a small box of toys our little one enjoyed playing with. It was a very child and dog friendly place. Garden was secure and the bird feeders were a lovely touch. The only negative comment would be that the rug in the back lounge was covered in stains and felt very unhygienic so we rolled this up out the way throughout our stay. Other than that the house was clean and well kept.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful location.

We enjoyed walks to Bibury and Fairford and a lovely circular walk around the village and surrounding fields every evening. The property has a sheltered garden in which were able to enjoy the glorious weather. It is fully equipped with everything you might need and a comprehensive folder with all sorts of useful information. We had no issues at all and would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone showing interest.

A very clean, well equipped, comfortable cottage.

Many useful provisions awaited our arrival - thank you. The cottage is well situated in a quiet village within easy access of the River Coln and country walks and trout fishing. It is also ideally situated for anyone using it as a base from which to visit the many beautiful villages in the Cotswolds. Would strongly recommend this cottage.

The Lodge is a beautiful Cotswold cottage set in a lovely village ideal for exploring the many beautiful surrounding areas.

The cleanliness and facilities in the cottage were 5 star. A great enclosed garden, ideal if you bring a dog(s). Lots of lovely walks on the doorstep too. We loved the garden room where you can watch a variety of birds on the bird feeders. The welcome pack added to a great start to our stay - thank you! We recommend The Lodge and would love to re-visit in the future.

It’s the perfect location for exploring, the village is really lovely. For anyone wanting to know, there is a pub, a shop and little cafe and also a church. There are lots of dog walks literally outside the door! The cottage is so clean and so welcoming! Thank you so much for making us so incredibly welcome and for our lovely thoughtful Christmas gifts. We will definitely be back! The only thing is, I was worried about our dog Luna getting your white rug dirty coming in from the garden, so maybe some dog mats to save the rug. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much again xx

Comfy beds, nice bedding and towels .Brilliant to have the basics provided like tea coffee condiments etc . Our only wish would be to have a coffee table in the front lounge but that's a minor issue.

Lovely cottage in a great location, welcome package provided by the owners was a really nice touch would definitely recommend this cottage to friends and family and will stay again myself the beds are extremely comfortable and everything you need is provided there is a lovely village pub just a few doors up wot more can you ask for

What a lovely cottage!

We all really enjoyed our stay at The Lodge(4 adults & 2 dogs). Great location for exploring the Cotswolds by car & walking the dogs locally. We all said that we would recommend staying at The Lodge to anyone as it really is everything we had hoped for. Positives were the comfy beds, location, cleanliness. The only thing that I personally would try to improve on is to get a smart TV in the front lounge but there is Freeview, DVD player as well as a smart TV in the rear lounge. Also a better shower upstairs but there is a lovely bath & a really good shower downstairs so the 2 things I've just mentioned are minimal. Thanks to the hosts for helping us have a wonderful holiday!!!!

A well appointed cottage with all the amenities you could ask for, just needed to move some things but that was just personal preference.

We had a week in the cottage, the beds were very comfortable, seating was good splitvover two rooms, kitchen was in two separate areas so there was ample space. I would recommend this cottage it is in an idilic village, and the pub was literally next door. A most enjoyable week.

..practically perfect in every way. We absolutely loved the cottage and found it faultless, well furnished and equipped and very comfortable...and in a lovely village with a great pub and community shop...idyllic.

This was our fifth stay at The Lodge.

We love it, simple as that. I do have one slightly negative thing to say this year though and that is the sofa in the garden room has had its day. It's now very lumpy and uncomfortable and could do with being replaced. Other than that, we have zero issues and we'll be back again next summer.

The listing should have commented on the steep curved cottage staircase which is difficult for anyone who is not 100% physically able.

Lovely cottage in great location for visiting Cotswolds, went to lido in Cirencester, Oxford, Blenheim Palace and lovely walk to Bibury/Arlington.

Cottage very clean and comfortable with perfect patio and garden for enjoying meals outside, visited New Inn a few doors away on a number of occasions which has a great beer garden with good food. Would highly recommend this cottage for enjoying a stay in this wonderful area.

This is our second stay at The lodge and we weren’t disappointed.

The cottage is very comfortable and clean. The little extra touches are very much appreciated. The location is beautiful with lovely walks from the doorstep and having The New Inn just a minute up the road is definitely a bonus! No doubt we would love to return and highly recommend.

Beautiful location. Loved the little touches within the cottage and dog friendly style. Very warm and loved the underfloor heating. Loved the small touches such as torches and night lights, really thoughtful and the kids settled nicely. Quickly discovered the boost on the hot water and all was fine for 4 showers. We would love to come back for a longer stay and found kitchen facilities good. Front room TV kind of obsolete can't even get BBC but this is fine as there is a smart TV in the snug at the back. Our only small suggestion would be that the patio is really slippery due to I guess north facing garden and moss growth, an accident waiting to happen could do with a jet wash to avoid this.

Lovely cottage in a perfect location.

Such a bonus have such an amazing pub on the doorstep that serves delicious food with great service. Such beautiful sky at night due to no light pollution whatsoever, an abundance of stars. Really magical. Very relaxing time !

We really enjoyed our stay at 'The Lodge'.

It was clean and cosy and situated in a beautiful area of the cotswolds. It felt homely and the beds were really comfortable. Our only complaint is that there seemed to be an unpleasant smell coming from the woodburning stove when we lit it, so we only used it once.

A very well equipped beautiful cottage.

Had a lovely time. A few teething problems which were solved promptly. The garden was ideal and safe for the dog Thank you for an enjoyable holiday.

Kitchen infested with ants, especially worktops and food bin.

Kitchen units needed wiping. Dog hair on sofas. Kitchen utensil provision erratic and outdated e.g. 4 frying pans but no pyrex dishes. Beds too low. No TV i-players. Couldn't find any information on local food outlets. Parking awkward as monopolised by nearby pub crowd. Broken light bulb in garden room standard lamp. Have Sykes inspected this property recently - we pay enough in management fees? Overall, poor value compared with other holiday rentals we have stayed in.

We had a lovely stay, the cottage was comfortable and we felt right at home.

For us the heating didn’t need to be so high. Hopefully we’ll be back another time, to enjoy the cottage and the Cotswolds some more.

We had a wonderful stay at The Lodge with our dogs, it is as picture perfect as advertised.

The Lodge has everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay and the owners go above and beyond to ensure that, for example with the added extras that you may forget to pack such as dishwasher tablets, tea towels, well stocked cupboards with tea, coffee, sweeteners etc, hand-wash etc. The Lodge has a wonderful garden room where you can watch an abundance of birds both large and small, we refilled the bird feeder with seed as they get through that quite quickly, if you like to watch the birds would recommend perhaps taking some to fill this up to keep them coming back. The New Inn is wonderful, its definitely worth a visit, the food is amazing and just a minutes walk away. Would love to visit again but seems dates aren't available for next year as yet, the cottage and the village are idyllic.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Lodge.

The cottage was very comfortable with everything that we needed. The location couldn’t have been better. Very handy to have The New Inn just a short walk away with their lovely food and the country walks from your doorstep were so picturesque. The circular walk to Bibury is a lovely one. Really enjoyed our stay and couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Home from home for the week. The only comment I would make is that if there had been four of us staying I think that it would have been cramped around the kitchen table at meal times.

Ideally situated for beautiful walks with the dogs in a quiet setting. The local pub and shop a bonus. The cottage is warm and very well resourced. Cooking facilitates the best I have experienced- a home from home.

Very nice property which is ideal location for walks, lovely little village with a friendly local pub and shop.

Property is quite spacious and cosy and nice that has two Bathrooms. Has most things needed for your stay and nice touches to be left milk and biscuits with also plenty of washing/ dishwasher tablets etc. Only slightly negative I could say was found quite a lot of cutlery and items dirty in the cupboards and just feels slightly cluttered with things on windows etc, which this does not show in the photos. especially at this time of year with Christmas decorations. Although Christmas tree was a nice touch. Was also disappointed that we could not check in till 6 which feel is very late and with a 10 am checkout feel like you lose a day really and also see this has been stated in a previous feedback. All in all was a very nice stay and would love to return to this part of the country again as it’s beautiful.

The cottage was in a great location and everything you needed was there even a herb cupboard!

The extra touches with the many Christmas decorations was so lovely as were the other extras. Great for walks. The New Inn which is 90yds away is to be recommended as is the corner shop and café.

Felt so homely and loved the wood burner. Very comfortable, spacious rooms, owners have done a great job of renovating. Great walks on the door step

The cottage very much matched the description provided, and was just what we had hoped for.

The only small niggle was the relatively quite late availability time (6pm) - as it happened we were late arriving but we'd normally expect access by 3 or 4pm.

What a fabulous Cotswold cottage.

Impeccably maintained both inside and out. Do not let the gripes of other reviews cloud your decision to stay there. We had everything we needed for a very relaxing week. Read the very clear instructions the owners have left to ensure you understand how this gorgeous cottage ticks. Community village store has a cafe serving a range of hot drinks and delicious cakes. We didn’t eat at the New Inn but I recommend the milk frothed hot chocolate. The walks to nearby villages are easily accessible if you don’t want to travel far or you can ramble further afield weather permitting. Plenty of maps and leaflets in the garden room. Would highly recommend The Lodge.

Super cottage!

Everything is there, and it is nicely decorated with much attention for details. Beautiful village, and a good location for exploring the Cotswolds and Oxford. The local pub (The New Inn) is recommended!

Great location and The Cotswolds area is always a great place to visit.

We have been lucky enough to have stayed in a number of places there and have had better accommodation, though to be fair, for us, maybe not always a better location? The photographs of the property do not truly reflect what you get, just like the details on estate agent sales brochures, the photos are mostly misleading? Yes a quaint place to stay in, but it’s dated and needs attention in various areas. The main bedroom mattress, in our opinion, is well overdue a change and the tv in the main lounge is complicated initially and could be a smart one too? All in all, we had a great break away and have enjoyed once again the surrounding towns and villages.

The cottage was beautiful , well presented and in a good location .

The pub is 4 doors away and serves lovely food . The only thing I would say about the cottage is the sofa in the main lounge could be better . The arms kept falling off as they aren’t attached neither is the back and it wasn’t high enough . . A better quality corner sofa would be more comfortable . We had a lovely afternoon of unexpected sunshine in the garden too . Kitchen is well equipped , we chose to use the conventional oven and not the range which was easy .plenty of utensils in the kitchen and loads of fuel for the fire which is unusual in holiday cottages . Bed comfy , showers good . You need to turn the immersion on if 4 people shower every day . We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend .

Really lovely place to stay.

Full of character. We knew the village from previous holidays nearby, but this was the first time we had rented a place in Coln. Very comfortable and warm cottage ( underfloor heating and loads of radiators ), well-equipped kitchen, two bathrooms ( we liked the downstairs shower best) and comfortable beds. I really liked the concept of two sitting rooms so I could slope off and read my book while my son watched the rugby ! The garden is delightful with several places to sit. We only had one day of sunshine ( it was February after all ) but we sat outside for a while and thought how super it would be on a summer evening. Loads of dogs in the village, everyone friendly, nice little shop and super pub. Loads of great pubs within ten miles too. We walked miles every day - beautiful rolling countryside within easy reach. Plus we had a great day out in Oxford. I can thoroughly recommend this cottage and the village. Our Labrador agrees !

Had a lovely stay at The Lodge.

Coln St Aldwyns is a picture perfect Cotswolds village with stunning scenery and walks directly from the cottage. Fabulous local community store and great pub The New Inn a few doors away. The cottage was beautifully refurbished (check out the picture of its renovation at the bottom of stairs!) and owners have clearly spent time designing a homely and stylish abode. Everything that was needed was provided. The garden is again beautifully designed to make the most of the space - small but perfectly formed. Two things to note which will hopefully help future guests and owners: the wifi is very poor everywhere except the garden room so be prepared for that and I agree with other comments that the beautiful range should not be so heavily advertised in marketing if it is not for guests' use. It was a shame not to be able to use it. Perhaps upgraded wifi and/or a booster would help with wifi issue? However, I would happily return to The Lodge again and again and had a really wonderful week there.

I loved this property - it was quirky but very comfortable and just a fabulous old Cotswold property.

The location was superb - pub nearby, a great shop/cafe up the road and amazing views and walks from the cottage.

Lovely, clean and well-equipped cottage.

We stayed over Christmas and The Lodge was beautifully decorated in every room and outside. The lit Christmas tree in the front room window was a welcoming sight on our arrival and the gifts were very thoughtful. We recommend it and hope to stay again in the summer when we can make use of the pretty garden.

The Lodge was lovely and clean on arrival and everything you could wish for was provided.

The beds were very comfortable and the layout of the property ideal for a holiday cottage. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend The Lodge highly. The only slight criticism (and it is only very minor) is that the inventory said we would be provided with logs for the fire to get us started. There were none. Having arrived at 6pm it was impossible to get any that late at night. We were there on the coldest night of the year so far, so normally this would not be a problem.

Cottage was comfortable and in a lovely location.

The garden is great space to relax, have a drink or for meals. Only 2 rather uncomfortable deckchairs were provided to lounge in - cottage sleeps 4. The utensils and glassware were rather mismatched with only 2 wine glasses provided - 1 rather large and 1 rather small. Six champagne flutes were provided??? We noticed the frying pans hadn’t been replaced after a previous visitor had noted they did not sit flat on the hob!!! The bases were bowed which made it difficult to use. Having to wander backwards and forwards between the galley kitchen and the main kitchen was also rather a nuisance. Beds were very comfortable however the duvets did not fit the cover - far too small . In the morning the duvet had normally moved into a heap inside the cover!! The bath is enormous and very uncomfortable if one wants to lie in it to relax. Straight sides do not make for a comfortable experience. The hot water system cannot provide enough hot water for a sufficient level to even wash in. The local pub is very nice and friendly but with a limited menu. Would we stay here again - I’m afraid not.

The Lodge was a great location for exploring the Cotswolds.

The garden was beautiful and we managed to have Sunday afternoon enjoying a bottle of Rose in the sun - wish we had known that there were deckchairs in the storage box in the garden - we only found this out on our last day! The master bedroom bed was very comfortable - and that is coming from someone who has a bad back and often struggles with holiday cottage beds! The bathrooms were lovely - the shower in the downstairs bathroom was really powerful. The only negative was that the owners request guests to use the electric oven and hob in the galley kitchen rather than the lovely range in the main kitchen which features heavily in the photos. The electric oven and hob in the galley kitchen are nowhere near all of the utensils, plates, pans, sink etc and so we found ourselves going to and fro from the sink in the kitchen to the hob in the galley kitchen carrying hot pans. Good for the daily step count but rather frustrating. Although we could have used the oven we chose to respect the owners wishes. I think this should be made clear in the property details. I would also suggest that they replace the frying pans as neither of them sit flat on the hob. The proximity to the pub is excellent - 80 steps! The pub food was delicious - I can recommend the burger! As we had to eat outside (Covid rules) I think the menu was reduced slightly but they had very efficient heaters under the parasols and the staff were great. All in all a good holiday and would stay there again but i would use the range next time!!

The cottage was perfectly well stocked for a weeks break and it was so homely it was lovely.

Fantastic accomadation, fantastic location!

Only problem was car parking.

Roadside was very busy. The alternative suggestion was taken by neighbours campervan !!

The Lodge is a beautiful cottage in a truly lovely setting ,unfortunately we only managed 3 nights out of our week due to lockdown on 23rd March but the owner rang us to tell us that he would reimburse us ,cannot thank him enough ,we were so sad to be leaving this beautiful cottage early but hoping to be back in the future ,Thank you to Tudor (owner) for all you did

The cottage was lovely, and in such a beautiful part of the world.

We were very lucky with the weather and were able to take advantage of the beautiful garden. We were glad we had taken some comfortable garden chairs as those that were in the garden to use were not very comfortable for any period of time. We did think that was one area in which the cottage could be improved. I slept in the second bedroom and could not open the windows and it was very hot in the evenings so if that could be sorted out that would also be an improvement. The pub was unfortunately closed for refurbishment but there is of course nothing you can do about that and there are some very pretty pubs and places to eat within a short drive, and good facilities to cater for yourself at the cottage. We had a fabulous week all told and I will be certainly recommending it to others, and hope to visit again myself!

The public footpaths are near the cottage, thats super for us and our dog.

Its a pity that dogs not allowed into the beautiful pub near the cottage. Luckily in all other pubs. It is a beautiful environment. Parking on the street was no problem.

We and our Jack Russell had a super four night stay at The Lodge, it’s a wonderfully cosy cottage in an equally lovely village, a real credit to the owners.

Furnished and equipped to a very high standard a home from home, we found everything we needed and the little extras, tea, coffee, milk and yummy chocolate cake were an added bonus. Also our little dog enjoyed his treats that kept him happy while we unpacked. Ideal location for visiting the surrounding area. We’d love to return and would thoroughly recommend this property.

The pictures do paint a very positive picture, the cottage is even cozier and more up the scale than expected.

And things provided telling about the owners hospitality. The restauration of the whole place is perfectly done without exaggeration. The surroundings are perfect for walking the dog. We would love to come back!!!

Our stay at the Lodge was absolutely perfect.

It is a beautiful cottage in a really lovely village with amazing walks for us and our dog. The village is central enough for exploring the rest of the Cotswolds but far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. The cottage is beautifully equipped with everything you need and more. We loved it and would highly recommend a stay here.

The cottage was attractive and in the centre of a very pretty Cotswolds village, while still being peaceful.

Everything we needed was provided in the cottage, nothing had been overlooked. The garden, though small, was well laid-out and pretty, and also dog-proof, which was important for us. There is a pub just 100 yards up the road, which is dog-friendly. There are many good walks nearby, including the walks to Bibury and back, from the cottage. The Wi-Fi worked well. We had some cold weather while we were staying in the cottage, but we were able to boost the heating, to have it on during the day, one day, and the log-burner worked well, so we were warm. We really couldn't fault the cottage.

The property was above my expectations in everything.

The obvious effort made to ensure our comfort was noticeable. As a previous hospitality accommodation owner the emphasis on the hospitality aspect was present as is not always the case as many owners think it is about renting a building.

We liked everything about the Lodge, especially the two lounge's with 2 tv's, very useful for a family to have separate space when needed.

The Lodge was perfect for my partner and I and our dog who loved lazing on the sheepskin rug.

We are quite particular about what we like but really could not fault this lovely cottage. As soon as we were home we looked to book this cottage again for June/July but unfortunately for us it's already booked up, but we will be back next year for sure. Loved the cottage, the village and the local walks with our dog were fantastic!

The cottage was furniture to a high standard and it was very well equipped.

The owners have really made the cottage feel like a warm, cosy and inviting home. It does feel like a holiday let. The small details: the books around the house, the interesting ornaments, the welcome cake, the useful information everywhere, the umbrellas, the dog toys (not that we took a dog) but they have thought of everything to make this a home away from home.

Location was amazing, lovely area, house so relaxing and comfortable.

It was the perfect place to stay in a lovely quiet village. The owners had lots of information on the surrounding area and they seemed to have thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable.\ We were looking for a cottage that had a private garden and one that looked like a home rather than a rental property and with country walks from the door. The Lodge fitted our criteria perfectly. We just wish we could have stayed for longer!\ We hope to return one day soon!\

The location was great - rural and quiet, 100 yards from a good pub/restaurant and 200 yards from a local community run shop and café.

The Lodge had all the facilities we required. Clean and well looked after. Everyone we met in the village was very friendly.
