Mill Race

Lovely property, great setting, warm and cosy.

. we had flowers, milk, tea bags and sugar laid on by the owners as well as a bottle of wine! Our only gripe was that as the owners flat is directly above, it was very noisy, I presume they have wooden floors and they creak a lot but you can hear everything, and it was very intrusive at times, including constant footsteps and using a roll along hoover on Sunday morning... Impossible to relax properly.

The owners met us with a very friendly welcome and showed us to the cottage and showed us how to use the cooker.

It was very clean and well equipped in a very quiet location but only a few mins walk from the main street in Burford. Parking was not an issue with on street parking but the owners were happy for us to unload and load our car on the driveway. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area. We had a few drinks in the Barford house pub and a great meal in The Golden Pheasant. We would definitely recommend this property and happily visit again

Ideal accommodation for a couple with a dog,very close to Burford, walking distance.

The apartment had everything with needed. The owners lived upstairs and were very helpful.

Thoroughly enjoyed my first Christmas away from home here, decided to make a change and relax in a different setting, the location is perfect, the property so cozy, also equipped with everything needed for a stay, the extra touch of Christmas decorations along with flowers and wine was a real treat.

Reggie(my dog) also enjoyed some great walks!

The flat is in a great location for all the amenities in Burford and the surrounding area. Whilst not huge, the flat is well laid out and equipped and more than ample for a week long break. It's probably more a wintery issue but my only very minor feedback would be that a couple of coat hooks would be a really useful addition for when everything is wet. Otherwise, it's very hard to fault and I would definitely recommend.

We have been renting from Barry and Mandy for more than 12 years now. The accommodation is always of the highest quality. Hope to back next year.

The setting is so peaceful and beautiful. The apartment ticks all the boxes, and the outdoor seating is lovely to just sit. We will be back next year.

Lovely cottage.

Very clean, with everything you need while on holiday. Nice touch of flowers, milk and wine on arrival. Location is lovely and only a short walk from Burford. Parking available on the street. We had a lovely time there and would recommend.

What a lovely little gem this place is in a excellent location just a few minutes walk to the high street in Burford where you will find all you need for your stay numerous pub and restaurants the apartment is kept to a very good standard and was spotless when we arrived

We received a very warm welcome from the hosts, and the property was exactly as described.

Quiet secluded location, very close to all of the amenities and shops. The property was clean and well laid out, with everything we needed for our stay. We would happily recommend this property .

We loved the location being close to the beautiful town and in easy reach of other Cotswolds towns and villages.

The apartment was very clean and modern with everything we needed for a weeks stay. Our only slight issue was not being able to park next to the house, especially when it was dark and raining. It was nice to be welcomed by the owner on our first night. We enjoyed our stay, thank you, merry Christmas!

Mill Race is just right. Being tucked away beside the river is so tranquil. Plenty of storage and all the kitchen tools you could ever want. Loved the fresh flowers.We will definitely be back. We stayed for three weeks and felt right at home. Thanks you two, see you next year.

Facilities were good, lovely courtyard being able to sit and relax in. We would recommend this apartment to anyone. Nice quite location.

Excellent cottage, very comfortable and good location.

The only thing we needed and couldn't find was a pair of kitchen scissors. Would definitely recommend a stay here. Owners very friendly and Mandy recommended a great place for a walk with our dog including a stop off for coffee and cake mid way.

Lovely accommodation in very convenient location for parking and a short distance from the town. Kitchen well equipped and very cosy lounge area for TV viewing in the evenings.

Just set back off the road so lovely and quiet at night.

Easy walking into town to great pubs and shops. Easy to drive to other cotswold villages which is well worth while. Parking on the road easy to do as only loading/unloading at the property. Would definitely stay again when in the uk.

We found Mill Race to be an excellent holiday cottage for us and our dog.

The booking process was good, with a few timely reminders and clear directions about finding the property and key safe. The owners were welcoming and helpful but not intrusive. We appreciated the welcoming treats for us and our dog. We loved Burford and surrounding countryside. The local information and small guide books were helpful. We had 2 excellent meals at the Royal Oak.

Nice compact appartment , perfect location for Burford high st but quiet ,wonderful walks from the door, compact but adequate for two and a dog , very comfy bed ,shower room adequate , plenty of hot water but unfortunately the Central heating wasn`t working which made the bathroom fresh !

I read previous reviews and there was some mention of noise from upstairs but I can honestly say that this did no impact on our stay at all.

The hosts were very good and very approachable and were we to come to this area again we would choose to stay here. The setting is beautiful, very calm and serene yet only a fe minutes walk from the town. Lovely location and lovely place. Very dog friendly which is important for us.

I was contacted to say we could arrive earlier than 6pm which was a good start to our holiday.

Accurate directions and where we could park also given. Very impressed with the property, location and cleanliness. We met one of the owner's when taking our dog for a walk ! Barry introduced himself the following morning with a warm welcome . Flowers, wine and treats for the dog left for us as well as milk, very nice touch. in the property there were good facilities , information on places to visit and pubs and places to eat with personal recommendations. Although we had to cut our visit short due to my ill health, I would like to visit again.

We had a lovely long weekend at Mill Race.

The owner is extremely helpful and friendly and the apartment is in a perfect position to explore the Cotswolds. The property was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We were very impressed!

The property is lovely, very well equipped and tastefully decorated and in a great location.

The owners were welcoming and ready to help. The downsides are lack of natural light in the living area and noise from movement in the property above.

A beautiful cottage very clean and well presented.

Very helpful owners. Super location. Unfortunately the oven was extremely difficult to use. The tv remote control didn’t work. The bed was very soft and uncomfortable and the duvet very noisy and crackly? Also we could hear lots of noise from upstairs . A shame because if these things were fixed it would be amazing. Also if you are with Vodafone there is no reception in the cottage and very limited reception in the village.

We really enjoyed our stay, only downside was that there is no gate on the entrance, I unloaded and loaded outside in the parking so never felt the need to drive into the courtyard, and although my dog is really well behaved always had to accompany him when he went outside.

The apartment is really lovely and the bed comfortable, we had a great stay and would recommend, the local pub food is really great and the hosts welcoming to me and my dog

We had a fabulous holiday at Mill Race.

It was ideal for the two of us and our little dog. Barry was really helpful with suggestions of where to eat. Plenty of beautiful places to visit. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful little cottage and perfect for a cosy romantic break away!

Ideal location in Burford for days out exploring the Cotswold's and beyond.

Only a short walk to two very nice pubs the Oak and the Angel both great beer and food and the town centre. Perfect for the two of us and our small dog. Can't recommend this location enough.

A fab location for exploring.

Barry and Mandy were very friendly and helpful. Small apartment, but it was just the right size for us and it was well equipped. Shared courtyard was OK, it missed having the privacy of our own garden. It didn't spoil the experience though because the other guests were friendly. Very quite and peaceful location. Burford is a beautiful village and is well served by lots of interesting shops and pubs.

The accommodation was clean and comfortable, but rather dark, especially the sitting area and the bedroom.

We had to have lights on all day, even when it was sunny. The mill stream was lacking in water, so no waterfall. There are no views from the accommodation as it just opens onto an enclosed courtyard, and no garden. Parking on Witney Street was not always easy as Burford is a very busy place. The owners were very helpful and provided extras, including milk and wine. We are happy to recommend the apartment, as it's in a good position near the centre of Burford but very peaceful.

Mill Race was a fantastic location with all clean and comfortable amenities we could not fault it.

The icing on the cake was the bottle of wine, fresh flowers and little present the owners left as a welcome, We would definitely stay here again

Well equipped and comfortable. Lovely touch from the owners to leave flowers, tea/coffee/sugar, a toy and some treats for our dog, plus very helpful and welcoming. Available if necessary but not intrusive. Would thoroughly recommend.

The location was lovely and set up of the apartment was great.

The owners very nice people too. We were impressed the double glazing meant we didn’t hear the river, which was quite loud, but what we soon realised is there is no sound proofing between the apartment and the one above. So I am sorry to say that the time spent in the apartment was marred by noise, whether from pets or people. We didn’t complain as what can you do about people just living normally and moving about their home, but it really does come through very loudly and they maybe need to invest in making some sound proofing between floors. We only stayed for 2 days so just got on with it, but had it been longer it would have been more problematic.

Excellent location - close to town but just far enough out of the centre for easy parking.

Owners were a delight - very helpful throughout. Perfect for a couple and a dog, although not an enclosed garden but plenty of space to sit and have an afternoon drink outside. Beautiful spot next to the old mill and river. Would return for sure. Thanks!

Lovely owners, great location and nice stay overall.

They have a separate laundry room which was great for giving our walking gear a quick spin in the evening.

This was a lovely holiday cottage and we couldn’t have asked for any more amenities.

This was a lovely cottage, first class amenities and kitted out to a high standard.

A great location just off the main High Street and for visiting the cotswolds. The only downsides were there being no enclosed space outside to keep my dog safe and having to find parking on the street as no parking was allowed on the property although there was sufficient space. These may have been things I overlooked when booking. But all in all we were well catered for and had a lovely time there

Easy walk in to the town, plenty of parking close to the cottage. Would definitely recommend.

The location of the cottage was perfect - on a quiet road 5 minutes walk from Burford’s main high street with all the shops and restaurants.

It is well positioned as a base for walking or cycling and exploring the Cotswolds. We had a couple of great walks one straight from the cottage and the other a 10 minute drive to the start. The cottage was cleverly designed and beautifully clean. It was compact but very comfortable and just right for 2 people. The cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed. The bed was extremely comfortable. On arrival there was milk in the fridge, plenty of tea coffee and sugar, a delicious bowl of fruit on the table as well as a beautiful vase of lilies. Barry the owner was extremely welcoming and helpful. Thank you.

Obviously the cottage lacked all the convenience of home but it provided an excellent, convenient and relatively economic facility that allowed us to be where we wanted to be and when.

We were able to accomplish all we wanted to do from a comfortable base and left with feelings almost of regret.

This cottage is compact but adequate for two people and a dog.

It’s tastefully decorated and comfortable. I could hear the owners upstairs at times when they went to the bathroom which seemed to be above the bedroom. Otherwise a lovely location in quaint Burford. We would come back.

Mill Race is the perfect accomodation for a break in the Cotswolds.

Situated just outside(5 minute walk) of the beautiful town of Burford, the owners are incredibly helpful and the place is pristine. A really enjoyable holiday visiting locations but we also looked forward to going back to Mill Race to relax in comfort.

The flowers, fruit, and milk for tea was a wonderful touch that makes someone feel welcomed.

The location was convenient to all the major roads so you can get to places easily. It is a wonderful location for walking to the center of town.

Everything was perfect.

The apartment was well presented and clean. Barry was on hand to give us tips on where to visit etc. Two minor hic -cups were dealt immediately and with-out any fuss. Brilliant for a relaxing holiday !!

The Cottage was pristine and utterly perfect for a couple and their mutt.

Nothing to complain about whatsoever, and Barry the Owner was an extremely nice chap, who couldn't help enough. Perfectly situated near to the main centre of Burford.

The owners were exceptionally welcoming and helpful, and the cottage was, for the most part very comfortable.

The only slight niggle for me was that the very cleverly taken photos of Mill Race didn't give any indication how restricted the shower cabinet was. As someone of larger size it made showering very difficult and ,had I been aware at the time of booking, we would probably have plumped for a different property

We felt very comfortable .well equipped kitchen.wery friendly welcome from Barry. We would stay there again.Good position, just few steps from noisy high street.

The host was extremely friendly and helpful; offering advice on local walks and places to eat.

He ensured we had a comfortable stay and small touches such as fresh fruit, flowers and milk were very thoughtful. As the weather turned very poor, it was lovely to have such a cosy warm place to stay with fresh fluffy towels! Fabulous location and a wonderful stay.

Parking is on road but not directly outside cottage.

It was difficult to find a place as Burford was very busy.

As we had a dog, we assumed the courtyard was enclosed, which it was not.

Perhaps mention this in future listings.

Nice and convenient for walking through to the High Street. Very clean. A welcome bowl of fruit waiting for us. Would go back.

Mill Race is fairly newly refurbished, clean and very well equipped & we have been to Burford twice before.

The only gripe we had was that the soundproofing between the ground floor cottage & the over-sailing parts of the first floor owners house was very poor. We could hear every step, phone conversations & even sounds from their bathroom when the owners (or the people looking after the house) were in upstairs. That aside we had a nice stay & we'll definitely be back to Burford.
