    “9 Windrush Heights was the perfect choice for our short break in the Cotswolds.”

    Warm and welcoming with a really well-equipped kitchen and a selection of complementary snacks and milk in the fridge, we enjoyed spending time together here. In the mornings, there was plenty of hot water for everyone. The TV and wi-fi were easy to operate. The dishwasher cleaned glasses well but bowls often required re-washing by hand. The enclosed garden was perfect for our medium sized dog. Although the cottage is located on a small housing estate, just off the A40, it was really quiet ...

We enjoyed visiting The Country Kiwi a friendly cafe, just at the entrance to Windrush Heights for breakfast. The cottage is really well-placed for easy access to many of the Cotswolds villages. We enjoyed our road trips during the day and returned to the cottage in the evenings. It was hard to find a pub on the first night with a free table for dinner, so it would be best to pre-book if you are arriving over the weekend. Overall, we would recommend the cottage for a break in the Cotswolds.

A contemporary property located on the edge of the hamlet of Windrush, and lies just 4 miles from the centre of Burford - one of the most popular Cotswold destinations.

As you approach the property you will be able to take in the fabulous views that the properties enjoy out across the Windrush valley.

Once inside the property you will begin to appreciate the thought that has gone into creating a welcoming and stylish holiday cottage.

On the ground floor you have a large and restful sitting room, where you can relax with a good book, or catch up the day's events on the smart t.v.

Also on the ground floor you have an open plan kitchen / diner, equipped with everything you could need to create a culinary masterpiece..

On the first floor you will find the 3 luxurious bedrooms: the master with king size bed complete with en-suite shower room, the double bedroom and a comfortable twin room.

You will also find the superbly appointed family bathroom (bath with shower over).

To the rear of the property you will find the private and enclosed garden - ideal for a spot of al-fresco dining.

If you can tear yourself away from this superb base, then why not take a stroll across the fields and enjoy the hospitality of The Fox in Great Barrington, a lovely, traditional riverside inn which lies 1 mile away from the cottage. Venturing a little further afield, you will be able to enjoy some of the most beautiful towns and villages that the Cotswolds has to offer, including Bourton on the Water (10 miles), Stow-on-the Wold (10 miles), Burford (4 miles) and the historic city of Oxford, which can be reached in about 40 minutes.

About the location

BURFORD

Swinbrook 2.4 miles; Little Barrington 3.5 miles; Minster Lovell 5.6 miles.

Burford is possibly one of, if not the most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, it is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located midway between Oxford and Cheltenham, it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit. The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits! With little change over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and tea shops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudeley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all within ten miles.
