Greg “Weir Cottage was as described in the listing, in an ideal location, comfortable, and met our expectations.”
Unfortunately the facility suffers from a bit of neglect (maintenance of the landscape, drier and vacuum issues). Sykes and Manor Cottages were very difficult to contact, making it very frustrating to resolve issues.

Paul “Excellent location with useful parking.”
Bright reasonably spacious accommodation. Reasonably equipped for a week including some self catering. Zipped together twin beds not very comfortable, but acceptable. The cottage lacks finishing touches to make it 5* Having paid well over £1300 for a week here, I cannot believe they cannot afford a simple bottle of washing up liquid, shower gel and a roll of tin foil amongst other basics. Milk, biscuits and coffee appreciated though.

Stephanie “Fantastic well equipped cottage in prime location”
- Stephanie, December 2024Thank you for your feedback, we are so please you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to welcome you again for another break soon. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

Geoffrey “Genuinely lovely holiday cottage.”
Beautifully and thoughtfully equipped, great design and perfect location (and we particularly appreciate the Christmas decorations and food gifts, which we did not expect, but shows the desire to make the stay special). Trying to find some constructive feedback (and this did not negatively impact our stay at all), but the ceilings are very low and the cottage is right on the walkway, so privacy is slightly compromised. These might just be an irritant to some if not mentioned in the description (very tall people perhaps!) But thank you so much for the rental- I also think the app is great and responses super timely. All good wishes, Geoff and Family (Hong Kong)
- Geoffrey, December 2024Thank you for your feedback and comments. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope you had a lovely Christmas. Best wishes, Manor Cottages Property Owner

Brian “The cottage was lovely, we would definitely book again.”
Beautiful location and very comfortable accommodations. The only issue we ran into was trying to figure out the dryer, it took a very, very long time to dry our clothes.
- Brian, November 2024Thank you for your feedback following your stay at the cottage. We are happy to hear that you found the cottage lovely and would book again. We will look to ensure that there are instructions for how to use the dryer in the welcome folder for future guests. Kind Regards, Manor Cottages Property Owner

Linda “The cottage as comfortable and cozy.”
The only problem we had was getting out of the sofa's as they were low, but that could be down to our age after a day of walking. There were clear instructions of how to use the kitchen equipment, which is always helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly book again if we decided to revisit the Cotswolds.
- Linda, October 2024 -
Martin “Overall as advertised.”
One small gripe - only providing one toilet roll for four people for a week is a bit mean.
- Martin, August 2024Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We do only provide starter supplies for all stays, however there should have been 2 toilet rolls made available so we will raise your comment with housekeeping. Kind Regards, Manor Cottages Property Owner

Kelly “Lovely property with an incredible location!”
We loved being able to walk to shops, restaurants and experience the charming town. House was clean, comfortable and very true to listing photos. We also loved learning a bit more about the home owner's family history and loved visiting the Model Village.
- Kelly, April 2024Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're so glad you found Weir Cottage to be so clean and comfortable, and loved the location too. We hope you will return. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

Kathleen “This cottage is in a fantastic location, our stay was also very relaxing and enjoyable, the one thing for improvement would be the shower it wasn’t easy to use, the flow was very aggressive and the temperature was hard to control, but other than that the cottage is a little gem.”
- Kathleen, April 2024 -
Nathan “Lovely little cottage.”
Nice and cosy and we had a brilliant Christmas Day in Weir cottage. It was nicely decorated with a tree and decor. Great location to walk into Bourton-on-the-Water along the water path in less than 5 minutes. Would definitely recommend.
- Nathan, December 2023Thank you for this lovely review. We're so glad you had such an enjoyable Christmas at Weir Cottage and loved the location too. We hope to welcome you again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

Terry “Weir cottage was very good.”
the only thing I would say is there was no walk in shower also no Sky TV and no TV in bedroom every cottage we have stayed at they have these facilities other than that it was very good
- Terry, September 2023 -
Paul “Anything negative is just the way that it is with an older building and proximity to the road.”
A couple of the rooms were under used due to the low ceilings and my 6 foot height. The busyness of the road was tolerable during the day but at night kids were doing figure 8s in the Birdland parking lot. I thought I was back in Atlanta. But the proximity to shops and hiking were outstanding and we left the rental car parked all week. It was hot early in our stay but cool inside with the windows open.
- Paul, September 2023 -
Karen “Great cottage and very well located for the village and travel to surrounding areas.”
Fantastic to have parking and a beautiful outdoor space. The cottage had everything we needed and lots of information. Very comfortable especially the beds and good quality linen. Walking distance to a great bakery for morning pastries and numerous pubs, bars and eateries for the rest of the day. Large supermarket a short walk away. Dial house for a special occasion. Would recommend a stay here.
- Karen, June 2023Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay and the local amenities. Best wishes, Character Cottages Property Owner

Diane “Ideally located.”
Lovely house Good facilities Ideally located for walks. We intend to return
- Diane, October 2022 -
Lorraine “The images of the cottage gave the impression it was in a quiet secluded area however it was on a main road .”
Hence traffic noise & people walking past & looking directly in the window was an issue ,
- Lorraine, September 2022Thank you for providing us with feedback on your stay at Weir Cottage. We can only apologise for the way you feel the images did not represent the cottage properly. We will investigate the property listing to make sure it is as accurate as possible. Best wishes, Character Cottages. Property Owner

Lisa “We had a lovely stay in Bourton-on-the-Water.”
The cottage is well situated with access to shops, cafes and restaurants only a 5 minute walk away and secure off road parking also being very beneficial. (The local Coop was also just round the corner.)The only thing I would say is as it is situated on the main road through the village the traffic noise can be heard when sitting outside and at night but it didn’t stop as from sleeping. Overall we had a lovely week and would recommend the cottage for couples and families.
- Lisa, August 2022Brilliant, you had a lovely week in Weir Cottage with the shops and cafe nearby. Pleased to hear the village traffic was not a disturbance for you. We appreciate your feedback and the recommendation. Best Wishes Character Cottages. Property Owner

Shannon “What an incredible and quintessentially Cotswold cottage, could not have asked for a better location or more perfect spot to enjoy Bourton on the Water.”
The owner actually greeted us and gave us a bit of history. The cottage was built by her grandfather who, in fact, was also the builder of the Bourton on the Water Model Village, an easy three minute walk from the cottage. Having a clothes washer and dryer was so helpful and the solarium and two patios were perfect for relaxing after a long day exploring The Cotswolds! Five star experience!
- Shannon, July 2022Fabulous you had a great stay in the cottage and loved the location. So pleased you enjoyed the background history of the property and Bourton on the Water. Glad you made use of the patios to relax after a long day. Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. Best Wishes, Character Cottages. Property Owner

Jennifer “We enjoyed our stay at weir cottage .”
For the price we paid didn’t think it was value for money . The welcome pack was a bit mean a bottle of Prosecco & 1 pint of milk . The cleanliness was very poor cobwebs were everywhere and not just been there over night they’ve been there a long time ,above main bedroom window there was massive cobwebs also behind the drawers in the hall were disgusting not been cleaned in a long time . Skirting boards were dirty behind the drawers ,in the other bedroom there was mould and cobwebs behind bedside drawers. It was in need of a good clean . It says in the welcome pack you get kitchen roll there wasn’t any , 3 dish towels we only got 1 for a weeks stay , no bin bags to change the bin.. The shower was terrible no power it took about 10 mins to get the correct temperature. Shower rail comes away from the wall . I’m well aware it’s an old cottage but that doesn’t mean a decent shower can’t be put in also there’s no excuse for the cleanliness. I’m not sure if the owner checks the cleaning of the cottage I would recommend they do as it’s such a shame as it was a nice cottage just needs some attention.

Sarah Louise “Fantastic Stay The cottage is in a brilliant location, nearly in the centre ...”
Fantastic Stay The cottage is in a brilliant location, nearly in the centre of Bourton-on-the-water Very clean and cosy cottage, lovely furniture and decor in keeping with the style (Just keep in mind the ceilings downstairs are very low) Really enjoyed our stay and will be booking again :)
- Sarah Louise, June 2022Thank you for this lovely feedback. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay at Weir Cottage and hope to welcome you again. Property Owner

Annis “We had been looking forward to our stay and Weir Cottage did not disappoint!”
A lovely cottage with everything and more we could need for a weeks stay. The perfect position to explore wonderful Bourton-on-the-Water. Our only slight niggle was that we found the bed (main room) a bit uncomfortable(could feel the springs). However, we wouldn't hesitate to rate this 5☆ and hope to return one day.
- Annis, May 2022Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. Glad the bed did not impact on your stay. Amazing to hear you enjoyed time at Weir Cottage and look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

Laurie “We had a wonderful stay at Weir Cottage.”
It is so comfortable and welcoming. The bed was excellent and the cottage well equipped. I found the communication regarding how to access the property and leaving requirements were excellent. Thank you for the wine and milk! Thank you for contributing to our wonderful experience of the area!
- Laurie, April 2022Thank you for taking the time to send such lovely feedback and we're delighted you enjoyed your stay at Weir Cottage. Unfortunately, we were unable to prevent your comment about the tub/shower drain not draining properly being published, but we have taken note of this and will rectify as soon as possible. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. Property Owner

Kenneth “A lovely cottage.”
- Kenneth, April 2022 -
Raymond “The cottage was wonderful.”
My only complaint is we were only supplied with one nearly used tool, and one full toilet roll. We had to go and buy some more very soon after arriving.
- Raymond, April 2022Thank you for your feedback. As our cottages are self-catering, we only provided one toilet roll just as a start however this is the same across most holiday companies. We are pleased you liked the property and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Property Owner

Nicely decorated along with a well equipped kitchen. Nice private area for sitting out and relaxing. Ideal location for discovering the wonderful Cotswolds. Very good restaurants within walking distance especially The Rose Tree, excellent for and service. I can highly recommend this property.

Molly “Beautiful cottage in the Cotswolds!”
Excellent location and really made our trip the perfect getaway! Would 100% stay again and recommend the cottage to friends and family! Thank you so much! The bottle of Prosecco in the fridge ready for our arrival was the icing on the cake too!
- Molly, Dec 2020 -
Alex “A lovely cottage in a great location for exploring Bourton on the Water and the rest of the Cotswolds.”
Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance, as well as plenty more a short drive away. Highly recommend a circular walk also from the front door to Naunton and back through the Slaughters - brilliant! The accommodation itself is lovely and authentic but with some modern touches - we felt at home straight away! We stopped as just a couple but plenty of room for two couples or a small family comfortably. We didn’t need much help from the owner but they were very helpful when we released we had left some stuff behind so full marks there too!
- Alex, Dec 2020 -
John “A wonderful cottage within the shortest of short strolls away from delightful Bourton on the Water.”
A roaring fire, a glass of wine whilst curled up on the sofa - simply magical. A fabulous retreat to the Cotswolds.
- John, Dec 2020 -
Nick “My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the cottage.”
Nice period features in a great area. The cottage was well setup with the all the modern amenities you could need without losing the character of the cottage. Parking was easy and the location is a short walk to the main high street. Highly recommended.
- Nick, Nov 2020 -
Dhrisha “Absolutely beautiful cottage in the perfect location!”
Right in the heart of the town, everything was walking distance away. The cottage was so clean and cosy, had everything you’d need in the kitchen, and had a great garden area outside. There was also a bonus bottle of Prosecco on arrival. Couldn’t have asked for more, we will definitely be back again.
- Dhrisha, Sep 2020 -

Eloise “The property was lovely - really clean, good sized bedrooms and a great kitchen/dining and lounge space.”
The location is quiet though central - ideal for getting around Bourton-on-the-Water as even though we had a car (there is off street parking), we could easily walk around the town. We cooked one of the nights during our stay and appreciated all the thoughtful touches in the kitchen to make this an easy experience - good cooking utensils, pots/pans, and basic oil, salt etc. Thanks again for a great stay - would highly recommend.
- Eloise, Mar 2020 -

Malcolm “The cottage has very good facilities and is close to the middle of Bourton on the Water.”
The only drawback is traffic noise as it is beside the road however this is compensated for by the location and ease of walking into Bourton.

Owner's family came round quickly to sort TV when it wouldn't tune in (previous visitor had unplugged wires to put in games console). Very clean. Good location within Cotswolds and within Bourton on the water itself. Very clear instructions for getting into property on the first day.

The property
Weir Cottage is a traditional Cotswold stone cottage, located in the heart of the famous market town of Bourton-on-the-Water, affectionately referred to as the "Venice of the Cotswolds", due to the beautiful river that meanders through the heart of the town.
Bourton itself has plenty to appeal to visitors, including a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as being ideally located for exploring the other many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, as well as further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath. The cottage has traditional character features, including wooden beams and doors, and a lovely real fire, which are complemented by modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a well presented kitchen and a beautiful family bathroom. Weir Cottage sleeps a maximum of four people, in two bedrooms, with a family bathroom and a separate WC.
There are lovely garden areas to the front and rear of the cottage and there is off-street parking for two/three cars, a major advantage in Bourton-on-the-Water.
The property is ideal for couples or friends looking for a lovely cottage for a relaxing break, in one of the best loved market towns in the Cotswolds.
Weir Cottage has quite a low front door, therefore guests typically enter the property via the conservatory door at the rear of the property.
The following rooms are on the ground floor: Living room: A lovely cosy room, with low beams and a real fire, which contains comfy seating for four and a flatscreen TV; Kitchen: Spacious and well presented, the kitchen contains an electric oven, four ring ceramic hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine (initial supply of capsules provided), toaster, and a washing machine; Conservatory/dining room: Bright and airy, with a door out to the garden and an open plan connection to the kitchen, the conservatory contains a wooden dining table, with seating for six; Reception hall: This low height room leads to the front door and is ideal for storing muddy boots; Hallway: There is a tumble dryer under the stairs in the small hallway. Stairs lead up from the hallway to the first floor landing.
All the first floor rooms are lovely rooms in the eaves of the cottage: Bedroom 1: Contains a king size bed. Bedroom 2: Contains a super king size bed, which can be a twin on request.
Family bathroom: A stylish feature bathroom, which contains a bath with an overhead shower, toilet, wash basin and electric heated towel rail; WC: Contains a toilet and a hand basin. There are good sized, peaceful gardens to the front and back of the cottage, with outdoor tables and seating available in both gardens.
At the end of the front garden is a gravelled parking area, with space for two/three cars, a major advantage in a town where parking can be difficult. Please Note- Monday and Friday check-in only

About the location
BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER
Stow-on-the-Wold 4 miles; Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Chipping Norton 13 miles; Cheltenham 15.5 miles.
Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery. Nearby, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises traditional England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antiques shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Also take a visit to the medieval town of Burford for a great day out where you can enjoy a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are both within easy reach and make a great day out. The spa town of Cheltenham is, architecturally, the most complete Regency town in England with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called The City of Dreaming Spires has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also all within easy reach.
Note: Weir Cottage has quite a low front door, therefore guests typically enter the property via the conservatory door at the rear of the property.
