    “The house is to say the least, very tired.”

    Kitchen was for cooking purposes only as was cold and old fashioned (we had to get a blower heater). Badger room- no heating at all, shower blocked with old hair (my brother is a plumber, so sorted it) dust and debris under the bed(pictures available)shower door does not shut properly.Badger room-faulty valve in toilet, no tv remote. Games room- tv only has bbc1 reported but not fixed, we fixed the snooker cue test. toilet upstairs, hot water Tap not working. Otter room- intermittent problem ...

Otter room- intermittent problem with toilet filling, room temp very hot (you could grow bananas) mould in shower. Downstairs bath waste leaking under bath, plug chain broke, so plug gets stuck. Could go on and on but we are a nice family who just soldier on and laugh. Great location but luxury it is not, and a little friendly mouse moved in to the twin room downstairs on the last night, so my nephew and niece slept on the sofa. The owner very nice but too many issues for him to resolve, as he needs Nick Knowles from DIY SOS. If you want a budget holiday for a large family with no frills, this is the place. The countryside is stunning and the village pub is lovely (the cask beer is amazing).

    I am sorry that you were so disappointed in your stay. and it is a shame that you didn't mention the other issues to me at the time, giving me the opportunity to resolve most of these easily fixed concerns - I'm only next door! I came straight in to sort 'games room' tv and when I left it was working (all channels)except for the remote control which I managed to replace that evening. Subsequently I have replaced that TV as it had an intermittent fault ( i.e. it worked when I was present - but failed when my back was turned). I found the missing remote from Badger in another room after your stay. We have a rolling programme of deep cleaning, each week pulling out beds and cupboards, cleaning and general maintenance, one room each week. Badger room was done last month and is due again this month. Likewise drain cleaning is done monthly, and in fact was done the weekend you left, before I had a chance to see your comments. This is a hard water area so we do get problems with the cisterns and periodically we put de scaler in the cisterns to resolve issues - clearly need doing again! Each room has individual thermostats, which are set to 22 degrees before arrival and I hadn't been made aware that any of the rooms were running cold. The guests who are in the barn this week are friends so I shall be asking for their experience on the matter. Greyhound Barn is set up for larger groups of up to 17 people and has been very busy this season, so yes it is not as luxurious and fluffy as some, but it is great for parties of people who want to celebrate , go for country walks, sightsee and enjoy the countryside. Glad you enjoyed our local pub! Mouse has moved back out and didnt leave any calling cards - (Ron, the cat, has inspected the premises this week to make sure) Property Owner

The thriving village of Barnsley lies south of the Cotswold Hills and is surrounded by beautiful countryside and ancient, unspoilt villages, whilst also playing host to an annual village garden festival. Barnsley Park boasts evidence of a Roman settlement and was supposedly enjoyed by the wives of Henry VIII. The village of Barnsley has its own village pub serving excellent food, as well as the 16th century Barnsley House where you can enjoy a day at the luxurious spa or take afternoon tea on the terrace overlooking the attractive gardens.
