What guests are saying
Dishwasher smelt awful , filters were disgustingly, un usable .
The dusting had not been done for weeks, I know it’s a cottage but I could right my name in it. I have photos, lovely location beds and sofa very comfy but hygiene very poor. I did email they took 2 days to reply and want to come and put right while we was there which I think is in acceptable. Seems it was supposed to be clean a few hours before. Mugs were filthy with food residue, shouldn’t except to do the cleaning before you even start our holiday , again I have photos which was all sent to the email for complaints . And I don’t appreciate kids coming in to the garden while we are on holiday.
Beautiful properties (we had The Forge too).
Lovely garden. Plenty of space. Great village. Dishwasher in Smithy didn’t work well. Old house, very creaky , worth knowing if you have young kids who might wake up easily. Stairs to top floor are steep and curved. Some very low ceilings too. Decor in Smithy is dated but that’s ok, not exactly luxurious but fine. Decor in The Forge is very good.
My husband and I were staying with my two sisters and their husbands for our annual family 'soiree'.
The well-equipped cottage is on the edge of the village, in a quiet location with a short walk to the pub and was as pictured on the website. It has many period features which you'd expect in a property of this age. We were fortunate enough to book it for the last week of May when we had the glorious weather. The cottage is well placed to visit the many nearby picturesque villages and is a short drive to a Tesco's supermarket.
