Lacock Abbey National Trust site is renowned for its fascinating history. Transport into the past with 800 years to unearth, from its past as an Augustine abbey to a Tudor home.

The first tenant, William Henry Fox Talbot, was a British scientist whose name lives on through the museum on-site.

Talbot was the first to create photographic negative, which came about due to his inability to draw. You can view his work in the museum, with some photos dating back to 1835.

Inside Locock Abbey ruins, you will be greeted by many magical film sets from Harry Potter. Step into a wizard’s shoes as you wander along the corridors and cloisters.

Head into the Chapter House, where Harry found the beguiling Mirror of Erised. Next, you will recognise the Warming Room as Quirrel’s classroom and The Sacristy as Snape’s classroom.

Venture outside into the village of Lacock, where you will spot The Babberton Arms.

You may notice this pub was in the background as Harry and Dumbledore explored Budleigh Babberton at night. On your journey, look out for Slughorn’s Hideaway, located on Church Hill.

The stunning grounds are open from 10:00-16:00 but the number of rooms you can visit can depend on staff availability. The Fox Talbot Museum and shop are usually open the same hours as the grounds but always check in advance.
