Blockley is stunning village in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire.

In the very northern part of the Cotswolds, the village has accessible links to Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Campden and Broadway.

1. Walk from Blockley to Batsford

The ‘Blockley to Batsford’ walking route takes around 2 hours (or more) and covers a total distance of 4.5 miles if you follow the AA route. The walking route is classed as ‘easy’, making it suitable for families with children; and there are plenty of places to eat and drink along the way should you need a pitstop.

2. Batsford Arboretum

Whether you happen to take the walking route or you travel by car, the Batsford Arboretum is not to be missed. This 55 acre botanical garden is home to one of the largest tree collections in the UK and is a fantastic place to walk around (suitable for visitors of all ages). Go shopping at the Garden Centre or grab some tea and cake at the Garden Terrace Café.

3. Visit the Cotswold Cheese Company

Just a 10 minute drive from Blockley is the town of Moreton-in-Marsh; this is a fantastic place to spend the day and if you’re a cheese lover, we definitely recommend popping into the Cotswold Cheese Company to taste some of the finest cheeses from around the world. There are 80 different artisan and farmhouse cheeses to choose from.

4. Chastleton House

Chastleton House, South of Moreton-in-Marsh, is a Grade I listed building that has remained unchanged for 400 years. This stunning Jacobean house is closed for the winter but reopens in the spring to the public, and together with its gardens it makes an ideal places for the whole family. Room guides will be able to show you around the property and there are plenty of facilities for visitors.

5. Cotswold Falconry Centre

A great place to take the kids, the Cotswold Falconry Centre in Morton-in-Marsh is home of some of the most amazing birds of prey. Breeding and conservation are important at the Cotswold Falconry Centre and some of the birds you can see include owls, eagles, hawks and falcons. There are also various courses and experiences available such as Eagle Day, Owl Evening, or Flying Start Experience for those who want to be a bit more hands-on.

6. Mill Dene Gardens

Experience the beauty of Mill Dene Gardens on a romantic getaway to the Cotswolds. Resting on School Lane, 2 and half acres of space complete with misty grotto, a bog garden and trickling stream all here to tell the story of the Dare family who bought the mill in 1964. Visitors can walk around the traditional English garden, watch the wildlife at the mill pond, or enjoy a delicious cream tea by the brook.

7. Day Out in Chipping Campden

Less than half an hour’s drive away is the lovely market town of Chipping Campden. This is a fantastic place to go shopping or just grab a bite to eat. Just be sure to pop into the town’s many tearooms for the Cotswold’s famous cakes and cream scones.
