1. The Trout Inn – Oxford

2. The Cat & Custard Pot – Shipton Moyne

The Cat & Custard Pot is a wonderfully charming English country pub in the lovely little village of Shipton Moyne, just moments from both Tetbury and Malmesbury. With a super beer garden, a great menu for both food, beer and wines, this dog-friendly Cotswold pub is a must when you’re in the South Cotswolds.


3. The Fox – Chipping Norton

The Fox in Chipping Norton is a wonderful, dog-friendly pub located right in the centre of this bustling Cotswold town. The Fox is all about great cask ales, the best of British food and a super-friendly welcome. Dogs and people are equally welcome at this much loved locals pub.


4. The Smoking Dog – Malmesbury

5. The Angel at Burford – Burford

8. The Bell – Alderminster

Wonderful pub near Stratford-upon-Avon where dogs people get the most friendly of welcomes. Dogs are welcome inside and out, the garden even backs down onto open fields and a little stream, so if your dog needs a bit of a run or a walk while you’re at The Bell, there’s plenty of opportunity for that as well. 9. The Bell Inn – Selsley

Picturesque, quiet and known mostly to locals, the pretty village of Selsley is home to The Bell, a dog-friendly 16th Century Cotswold pub. This cosy pub is full of atmosphere and on the menu us locally-sourced and seasonal food and great beer and wine. Whether you’re with friends, your loved on your 4-legged friend, The Bell in Selsley is a great place to unwind and enjoy a bit of the country life.


10. The Kingham Plough – Kingham

Famous for being the pub owned by super star chef Emily Watkins whose ethos that provenance is the key to great food have earned this popular Cotswold dining pub many awards since the opening in 2007. Emily and her team source only the best local ingredients for their gastronomic delights and with The Kingham Plough being centrally located in the Oxfordshire village of Kingham, near Chipping Norton, it welcomes customers from near and far, and their dogs.


11. The Chequers – Churchill

The beautiful village of Churchill houses one of the most famous pubs in the Cotswolds, The Chequers. Famed for often having famous guests (and perhaps their dogs too), The Chequers is the perfect mix of the traditional dining pub with a generous splash of modern and on-trend decor. 12. The Mount Inn – Stanton

As the name suggests, The Mount is in fact situation on the mount in beautiful Stanton near Broadway, a picturesque and reasonably unspoilt Cotswold village, and enjoys spectacular panoramic views of the Vale of Evesham. The Mount in Stanton is very dog-friendly, always welcoming you and your four-legged friend for a pint or two.


13. Horse & Groom – Bourton-on-the-Hill

This picture-perfect Horse & Groom on the top of the hill in Bourton-on-the-Hill, is a wonderful Cotswold country pub where friendly service is a given, as is award-winning food and drink and a friendly welcome to both dogs and humans.


14. The Red Lion – Long Compton

On the road from Shipston-on-Stour to Chipping Norton is the small village of Long Compton, home of one of the most dog-friendly pubs in the Cotswolds. With a gorgeous resident chocolate lab (who is happy to substitute in case you didn’t bring your own dog), you always feel welcome at The Red Lion, with or without your dog. For real ales, fine wines, delicious food, roaring fires in winter and a spacious beer garden in summer, you’ll love it at The Red Lion.


15. The Seagrave Arms – Stratford-upon-Avon

The Seagrave Arms is a wonderful dining pub in the Cotswolds, just a few miles from both Chipping Campden and Broadway and only a 2-minute drive to Stratford-upon-Avon. With locally sourced produce and a bar stocked with award-winning real local ales and spirits, you and your dog are in for a treat when you visit The Seagrave Arms.


16. The Railway – Cheltenham

With a special focus on delicious Thai BBQ, The Railway in Cheltenham is popular pub for both residents and visitors. Dog-friendly, family-friendly and always offering a warm welcome to guests, The Bell in Sapperton is a wonderfully charming pub located between Stroud and Cirencester in the picture-perfect Cotswold village of Sapperton.

Located in the truly stunning Slad Valley and famous the World over for being the local for poet and author Laurie Lee, The Woolpack in Slad is the place to go for great and local real ales, fine wines and great seasonal pub grub. 23. The Rattlebone – Sherston

Dog-friendly and super-cosy, The Rattlebone in Sherston in the South Cotswolds truly is a one-off. With wooden as well as paved floors, different sized rooms and odd sizes of wobbly tables, this place has charm and charisma in every nook and cranny. Oh, and did we mention The Rattlebone is haunted? No? Well, you and your dog could “risk” bumping into the ghost of the 11th century Saxon warrior John Rattlebones. But not to worry, we hear he loves dogs too.


24. The Bull – Hinton
