Lyneham, Chipping Norton & surrounding area
Tithe Barn, Lyneham is a superb choice for a large gathering of friends or family looking to be located right in the heart of the Cotswolds and within a very comfortable and spacious barn conversion. We see it as the ideal choice for a family country holiday given its surroundings, tucked down a very quiet lane on the edge of small village. Set on a working farm within a small Cotswolds hamlet, the barn has nearby access to the rolling countryside of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds. Over the years guests have regularly returned to Tithe Barn (which is a very good sign) and we suspect it is because it has a wonderful open plan living space which is absolutely ideal for entertaining. The owners who are around the corner and happy to give advice and ideas on what to do locally have worked hard to make this an attractive destination and together the property and the classic countryside surroundings make it perfect as a get-a-way choice. Internally the barn has been well renovated and provides superb facilities and touches including the enormous windows in the centre of the building. Externally this English Country barn has an enclosed garden and access to brilliant walks in every direction. An absolute favourite with our customers, and you can see why.

Tithe Barn sits in a perfect spot on the edge of the hamlet of Lyneham, which is not the same place where the RAF are based please note - that is about 25 miles away! From your door you are able to take in some stunning scenery on some long walks deep into the Cotswold hills. The village is very much a traditional Cotswolds' one, packed with attractive, classic buildings and a collection of some top notch pubs. It sits about half way between Burford and Chipping Norton, each no more than 3 or 4 miles in each direction and each with resturants and some shops worth visiting. There are a few villages which sit within close proximity - Shipton under Wychwood, Kingham and Churchill - all equally attractive and each with a pub!
(Your nearest place for a light drink and something to eat is actually at the Wychwood golf club, 10 min walk, where non playing guests are very welcome for food and drinks. Described as 'a well groomed course that challenges the best golfers.... it has a lovely clubhouse with breathtaking views of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds.' We say it's well worth a visit! (01993 831 841 closes at dusk in Winter months.)).
Shipton has three pubs in the village and all a very good standard: The Lamb, The Wychwood and The Shaven Crown. Each serve good food and local beer and do come well recommended. There is a basic shop for every day produce and goods, otherise you will be able to get more food etc in Chipping Norton.
The villages of Kingham and Churchill have very, very good pubs which we heartily recommend while about 5 mins drive away is the famous Daylesford Organic Shop where you can shop, eat, drink, learn to cook, garden you name it!!
For those that wish to explore, the cottage and village is ideally placed in the central Cotswolds with places such as Stow on the Wold and Bouton the Water all within 15 mins drive and ideal for a visit. Further afield and well within a reasonable drive are Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle, Blenheim Palace and many other picturesque villages. Also close by are the Cotswold Wildlife Park.
If golf, fishing and riding appeal then all can be found within 5 miles of the cottage.
