“We had a lovely stay, thankyou.”

There were no tea towels in the kitchen and this was our biggest frustration over the weekend. The property is a little worn and well lived in, but it's comfortable and clean. There were no tea towels in the kitchen and this was our biggest frustration over the weekend. The property is a little worn and well lived in, but it's comfortable and clean. My biggest issue with this overall booking was the difficulty in speaking with anybody to discuss our reservation ahead of our stay. I was desperately hoping to organise an early check in, was more than willing to be accommodating for how this might work (appreciating check outs and preparing the property), but trying to speak to anyone on the phone was impossible. The customer service when trying to accommodate the request to speak to someone was unhelpful and dismissive, it would take them days to respond to my queries and as a new representative was picking up would have to start the query all over again- their system does not log your previous enquiry. On the day of our reservation I received a voicemail from a very chirpy representative- the property was ready and we could check in from 2pm. Not particularly helpful when it's currently 1.30pm you've got 20 people arriving from all corners of the country and you yourself have a 3hour journey ahead. If you are looking to book this property, please be mindful of check-in times and the ability to liaise with anyone about your reservation ahead of time.

The property

There's plenty of room for up to 22 guests at the spacious South Hill Farmhouse (22), which is a holiday home listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The property, which was formerly a farmhouse in the area, now features 11 bedrooms and several bathrooms, making it an ideal spot for large families or groups visiting the Cotswolds.

The owners have thought of everything to make your stay here memorable and fun, including a spacious living area, a separate games room, and a huge dining room.

The home is just paces away from the centre of Stow on the Wold's bustling market district and is situated on the Fosse Way (the infamous main road between Cirencester and Stow).

The huge vacation home is made more appealing by the use of high-quality materials throughout.

Farrow and Ball paint, Robert Welch cutlery, and Denby dinnerware are just a few examples.

Highly recommended for any celebration you want to remember forever.

(Please note that the description concludes with information on optional farmstead activities.)

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £500.

About the location

STOW-ON-THE-WOLD

Bourton-on-the-Water 4 miles; Stratford upon Avon 15 miles.

The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, it is host to literature, jazz, classical music, science and food and drink festivals. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called 'The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within easy reach, making Stow-on-the-Wold an ideal base.

NOTE: This property has a £500 good housekeeping bond, this amount is automatically shadowed when the booking is made.
Note: This property is over 3 floors, and the first floor has 2 separate staircases.
Note: There have been a number of occasions at the house where parties have gone into the early hours. This is absolutely fine, but we respectfully ask that noise outside the property be kept to a minimum after 11.00 p.m., in consideration for the neighbours. Thank you for your co-operation.
The parking will fit 8 medium size cars, but please note you will have to block some cars in to fit.

Note: The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, this is a traditional fair for people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted; Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed.
