Longborough, Stow on the Wold & surrounding area
Windy Ridge Cottage is a beautifully quaint cottage located in a secluded country estate about 3 miles outside Stow on the Wold. How often can you say that you've stayed on a Cotswolds' Estate?! The location is tucked down a little lane, within the hills, just outside the village of Longborough, famous for its Operatic connections including its annual Opera Festival. And on top of this is the beauty of the area which is as good as it gets. The cottage is a quintessential Cotswolds' building built with the mellow stone, nicely secluded and surrounded by an enclosed garden; there is also access to the estate's arboretum of 3000 trees. Inside, the cottage is spacious and roomy; the living room with its triple aspect is especially attractive. The kitchen, while basic, is well equipped and with a delightful dining room. Upstairs are two large bedrooms and a third more than comfortable for two.
Every window frames beautiful views over the lush gardens and what is even better is that even though you are down a little quiet lane you are still only 300 yards from a top Cotswolds' pub. This place is a great choice and very good value.

Longborough is one of those villages that you'd love to live in.... no through traffic, a lovely local pub, The Coach and Horses, an award winning Village Shop and (wait for it) an Opera Festival that is world renowned. How about that!? Located in the Evenlode Valley and just 2.5 miles from Stow on the Wold and similarly from Moreton in Marsh (train station from London Paddington) it is surrounded by beautiful Cotswolds' countryside. As you would expect there are many walks to enjoy in all directions. The village shop also doubles as a cafe/restaurant with free wifi too.
Given Longborough's location, the popular and similarly attractive Chipping Campden and Broadway are both very easy to get to with their wealth of shops and places to browse and relax. We could go on about the best places to eat, but part of the joy of this area is that you can try them all and decide for yourself!
Walkers will enjoy the footpaths leading from the village and its fabulous and far-reaching views across the valley. Shakespeare's Stratford upon Avon and Cheltenham with its wonderful shops and racecourse, are both about 20 miles away. Main rail station at Moreton in Marsh for Oxford & London, Paddington (100 mins).
"wonderful location. Very peaceful. The cottage was a delight. The large lounge was so comfortable and room to spread out. We had a fantastic stay, and will be booking again! "Mrs Carroll 2017-10-05
"This cottage was roomy, clean and comfortable. Its location was superb. Very quiet. Lovely picnic table in the garden. Plenty of parking. Attentive, friendly host, when needed (figuring out heating, etc. and hot water). Mrs Denyar-Macdonald, May 2017."Denyar-Macdonald 2017-05-22
