Bledington, Stow on the Wold & surrounding area
The Old Reading Room is an exceptionally well presented, personal and romantic country cottage (three proposals have taken place here to date) set in the heart of this lovely and tranquil village. The cottage which itself is contemporary and light, and fantastically located to explore the Cotswolds, has been meticulously restored (and maintained) to a very high specification from what was originally the old school room where local children would have practised their reading and music. The cottage provides light, airy and extremely welcoming accommodation set across two floors, with a number of traditional features balancing out a clean and modern feel, including traditional Cotswold stone walls, open-log burning fire and pretty beams. Externally the property has access to a peaceful, secluded country cottage garden. The Old Reading Room is situated in the heart of Bledington, an archetypal Cotswold village with a quintessential village green, attractive stream with Bledington ducks, together with the acclaimed Kings Head pub. In our opinion this is a stunning English Country Cottage that is certain to delight.

The Old Reading Room sits about a 3 minute walk from The Village Green and (more importantly!) the village pub. The village of Bledington is a truly quintessential village in every sense, a quiet spot in the countryside filled with attractive cottages and houses and views. It is located in the valley of the River Evenlode, close to the famous Cotswold towns of Stow-on-the- Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Burford all of which are between 5 and 15 mins drive away.
Daylesford, the very popular organic shop and store (plus spa, garden shop and restuarant!) is about 10 mins drive away too, so if your minded to spend on some hard earned money!!! The village of Kingham is also a very popular spot (about 5 mins drive) with three very good quality pubs, The Millstream, The Wild Rabbit (owned by Daylesford) and also the Kingham Plough - all three offer superb food.
Bledington lies on the Oxfordshire Way walk which is a super trail which takes you up on the wolds (hills) via Wyck Beacon and then down to Bourton-on-the-Water. The village is very attractive (one of the most sought after in property terms) and has the quintessential village green coupled with a great pub: The Kings Head, which serves real ale as well as good food.
Stow on the Wold is the most local town and this has all the necessary shops, including supermarket, cafes, antique shops (etc) plus many pubs and restaurants. Regency Cheltenham and the magnificent university town of Oxford are also within striking distance (about 40 mins drive), although it is possible to catch the train from Kingham station, the next village, which will take you into Oxford in 20 mins or London in 1 hr 35mins.
All round a gorgeous location!
