Minster Lovell, Burford & surrounding area
Oh yes please! What a village!! Pheasant Cottage is a fabulous period barn set in the gorgeous Cotswold corner of Old Minster Lovell, very much the traditional village. The barn is spacious with good size rooms throughout all light and bright and with lovely views in all directions. It is also presented immaculately clean and fresh. You are located up a little gravel track with fields to either side of the barn, including one which is for your use - so you can stretch your legs or simply sit and admire the lovely Cotswolds roof tops in the distance. The barn has a private terrace to the rear, a real sun trap and tip top for a morning cuppa!
At the end of the drive you can sample some quintessential English scenes with the village cricket pitch (a safe distance away!) some beautiful cottages in another direction or alternatively the delightful Swan pub 5 minutes walk away. For the more active there are excellent walks directly from your door including the Old Minster Lovell Hall (English Heritage). A very well located holiday cottage in one of the Cotswold's most beautiful villages.

Old Minster Lovell is a village approx 5 miles to the east of Burford and roughly 15/20 mins to the west of Oxford. The holiday property is set in the heart of the 'Old' part of the village, and as a result you are within a close distance of a couple pubs and a simple village shop selling basics. The village is roughly split into two sections with the 'Old Minster Lovell' set aside the River Windrush and amongst some simply gorgeous surroundings. There are historically significant ruins on the edge of the village - specifically Minster Lovell Hall, the 15th century home of Lord Lovell, a powerful associate of King Richard III. You can walk to these ruins in about 5 mins and paddle in the river which meanders past!
Minster has a good gastro-pub within walking distance of the property, and there are several public houses to choose from. The look of the old village is typical of the Cotswolds with picturesque thatched cottages, stone buildings and a beautiful cricket club. This is a truly English village! The market town of Witney with many shops and supermarkets etc is about 2 miles away, where there is a cinema, plus a growing collection of quality shops to choose from.
Oxford, and its 'dreamy spires' plus many attractions is approx 20 mins drive away, acessed easily from the barns at Grove Farm. We'd certainly recommend a day trip if nothing else. Otherwise most 'famous Cotswolds locations such as Burford, Stow on the Wold and Woodstock with Blenheim Palace, are all within a short driving distance. For families, the Cotswold Wildlife Park is about 8 mins drive away - one of the region's most popular tourist attractions and one heavily recommended.
