Cherington, Tetbury & surrounding area
Pear Tree Cottage (or 23 Cherington as it is otherwise known) is a very attractive holiday cottage set in one of the most attractive areas of the Cotswolds. The cottage is located within a small terrace of traditional cottages just a stone's throw from the village green, with a lovely view across to one of the large village houses on the other side. The house has a wonderful cottage garden to the rear with super views across the countryside beyond. Cherington is gorgeous, traditional little village located about 4 miles outside Tetbury. Utterly idyllic and always a picture, the village has often won the 'Best Kept Village' competition in the southern Cotswolds. It is historic and crammed with beautiful buildings and has seen hardly any change or development in the last 100 years. This is very much the essence of the Cotswolds, a thriving and busy community with many events going on through the year that you may wish to sample on arrival. If not then you won't be disappointed by simply walking the many, many miles of lanes which surround the village.
Tetbury is, of course, a very well known local 'town' (more a big village to be honest) thanks in the main to its famous locals - Prince Charles and Camilla. There are a plethora of shops, especially antique shops, to choose from and there are also a good choice of restaurants and cafes to enjoy. We always enjoy The Snooty Fox and we love the Hobbs House Bakery which does a mean Bakewell Tart amongst many, options! No visit to Cherington would be complete without at the very least a morning in Tetbury.
If you're looking to get out further afield, how about Bath, which is about 30mins away and is without doubt one of the finest and most beautiful cities in England. If you go, you'll want to return. Heading in the other direction you can choose from Cirencester, Stroud or a host of classic Cotswold villages that all look as pretty as you can imagine.
