Sherborne, Burford & surrounding area
Otto's Suite is every bit as sumptuous and gorgeous as the name suggests! Set within the majestic Sherborne House this ground floor apartment is as sleek and luxurious a bolt hole as you could wish for, a true haven in the Cotswolds. Step inside this elegant home-come-hotel and you will feel immediately restful, somewhere you can hide and feel swaddled in history and style. Designed by artistic owners who themselves know a thing about fashion around the home, this cosy, boutique space has all that you could need for a short (or longer...) get-away - a top of the range Hypnos mattress will have you dreaming in no time, whilst the kitchen has all you need to knock up a hearty start to the day and the bathroom has a powerful shower to freshen you up for the day ahead.
Outside, you are free to roam the acres of grounds and gardens which surround this stately "pile" including the indoor pool and tennis court which is a short stroll from the front door. The village of Sherborne (predominantly National Trust owned and therefore undeniably pretty) is stunning, with nothing but character cottages and buildings everywhere. It also happens to the presiding home of the BBC's famous SpringWatch TV programme too.
You are surrounded by some of the finest country walks in the Cotswolds, so DO bring your walking shoes. And then? Well, thankfully, you are within a short drive (taxis can be ordered) from some seriously good pubs for lunch and dinner. For the fashionistas you can head to Daylesford Organic Shop where you will find a treasure trove of treats. (15 mins drive)
We love Otto's Suite: a self catering / hotel suite within an historic building that is private, secluded and uber romantic. We think whoever books this will get major Brownie points! SHORT BREAKS ALL YEAR

Sherborne Manor is a building steeped in history dating back to the 17th Century. Beautifully maintained and today with stunning grounds, an indoor pool plus a tennis court, it is very much a piece of history deep in the Cotswolds. The village within which the Manor sits is largely owned by the National Trust - the cottages and buildings are classic Cotswolds in every respect, with little modern architecture anywhere. The village shop and tea room is a hive of activity and is well worth a visit.
More recently Sherborne has become the home to Spring Watch, the BBC's TV programme which is filmed in a secret location on the Sherborne National Trust estate!
As you would expect there are some of the Cotswolds' best walks in this area, some of which take you along the River Windrush - a truly picturesque spot. The villages that lead along the Windrush Valley are similarly stunning including Windrush (creatively named!), Great and Little Barrington and Farmington in the other direction.
Northleach, which is approx 5 miles away has a small selection of shops, but does have one of the best pubs in the whole of the Cotswolds - The Wheatsheaf which is well worth a visit, but bring your credit card! Burford is approx 7 miles away with its selection of shops and pubs - equally desirable.
There are a host of beautiful villages nearby and similarly local attractions - all of which should keep you busy and occupied.
"Room a little smaller than expected however all presented lovely and great facilities"Minsky
