Leafield, Burford & surrounding area
The Old Oak Tree Barn is an historic building with some outstanding views that make it a wonderful holiday cottage option. Forming one half of the historic King John's Barn, once the rallying point for huntsmen coming from the nearby Wychwood Forest, "The Old Oak" is situated in a classic rural location near to the Cotswolds' villages of Shipton under Wychwood and Leafield - both within easy striking distance of Burford and Chipping Norton. Inside, the property is absolutely spotless and clean; it is furnished neatly and has a relaxing feel when you arrive. Smaller than it's bigger brother The Gallery, it is just as appealing and comfortable. On the ground floor is an open plan space with all of the main elements you would expect including a well kitted kitchen; upstairs are two ensuite bedrooms - ideal for two couple if staying. We've enjoyed promoting this barn for over 15 years and have had many, many happy customers. We think you'll enjoy it too!
This holiday cottage is likely to appeal to families looking to enjoy open space while having easy access to local amenities.

Set at the top of the hill, down a private drive The Old Oak Tree Barn, is arguably the highest building in the whole of the Cotswolds. We say this because we know Leafield, the nearest village, is the highest village in the Cotswolds. Surrounded by nothing but fields and on a private road, you are in perfect countryside with some outstanding views across the Evenlode Valley.
Leafield is a small village with pub and shop and about 1 min by car. The barn is perfectly located for visiting many of the local areas of interest. Burford, Stow on the Wold and Chipping Norton which are all within 10 to 20 mins drive and where you will find a wide array of shops and restaurants. Your nearest pubs (and they're all good please note!) are to be found about 5 mins away in the villages of Ascott under Wychwood and Shipton under Wychwood. And if you're not eating out and simply want a good walk then the walk down to these villages on the back lanes is outstanding. The Shaven Crown in Shipton is reputedly the oldest pub in England....
Some of the very popular spots are near - Daylesford Organic shop is about 20 mins away, Oxford is about 20/25mins drive away. Other famous locations including The Cotswold Wildlife Park and Woodstock (Blenheim Palace) are no more than 15/20 mins away, while Stratford-upon-Avon, Cheltenham and Cirencester are easily accessible for a day trip.
"The cottage was fabulous. Well equipped, comfy, cosy, stunning idyllic location, very small attention to detail was taken care of."Ms Lister 2016-05-20
