Chipping Campden is a beautiful historic town filled with charm and character, and rightly considered one of the Cotswolds' finest and most attractive villages/towns. Lanes Cottage location is right in the heart of the Campden, on the High Street and about 30 seconds walk from the excellent range of shops to be found here. Your walk is level and very easy and from here you'll find some super restaurants, bars and other shops of interest (there is an excellent, if expensive, art gallery across the street...) In fact we've always enjoyed our visits to Campden (as it is often called locally) and with plenty to do in the near vicinity, it's hard not to think of returning after your first visit. Unsurpringly Chipping Campden was recently voted the Nicest Village in England!
There are some superb walks literally from your front door, with Dover's Hill a favourite where there are some outstanding views across the northern Cotswolds towards the Vale of Evesham. We defintely recommend this walk. Depending on the timing of your stay, you might be able to encounter the Olimpik Games, Campden's own, historic version of games - including the infamous World Shin-Kicking Championships!
As well as its own activities and shops, we do recommend you visit Broadway (10 mins by car) and also take in some of the Cotswolds finest villages all near by places such as Snowshill, Stanton, Hicote and Blockley are all well worth visiting - they're beautiful.
Due to its central location in the north Cotswolds, you can enjoy the delights not only of this charming old wool merchants' town, but also the nearby surrounding shire counties of Oxfordshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire. From Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds to the south, to Worcester and the Malverns to the west plus Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick (with the best medieval castle in Europe) all within an hour's journey.
