Knapp Cottage is a charming farm cottage situated in the heart of an idyllic (but not remote!) area of the Cotswolds. Very much a country cottage, Knapp is a cosy and comfortable holiday home perfect for families, presented with many attractive features and is an excellent choice for a trip to this popular area of the Cotswolds. We absolutely loved the superb choice of things to do at the farm; these include a host of games such as a pool table, table tennis table, tennis court plus a range of farm animals to see. Charlbury is a little known village located in what many people describe as 'the golden triangle' of the Cotswolds. So called because of its proximity to places such as Chipping Norton, Stow on the Wold and Burford - each of which are about 10 / 15 mins away. It is also one of the very few places that has its own train station which comes from Paddington London. (You can walk to the cottages from the station, it will take about 20 mins walk)
The village has absolutely absolutely everything you could wish, a few good pubs, (The Bull at Charlbury, The Bell and The Rose and Crown) some serving good food, an excellent convenience store plus a few other basic shops - there is even a farmer's market once a month. There is superb architecture throughout but especially in the heart of the old village.
We recommend, if you can, to travel to Great Tew where not only is a superb village, but a excllent pub, The Falkland Arms, a totally quintessential village pub, under a thatched roof. Beautiful!
There are loads of things to do while in Charlbury, including a must do walk to Cornbury House a stunning private manor which isn't open to the public but which has a number of walks through the grounds. This is in Charlbury. The Wilderness Festival in July is a must do if you can, similarly Cornbury both of which are music festivals over a wekend and are amongst the best for families in the UK.
Woodstock is very close by, approx 5 miles away, where you will find a wider range of shops and restaurants plus, of course, Blenheim Palace the seat of the Duke of Marlborough and previously the home to Winston Churchill. A day trip here is a must if you have the time.
The countryside in this area is extremely attractive and explains why it is amongst the most attractive places (and sort after too) to live in the Cotswolds.
