Barton On the Heath is a classic and typical Cotswolds' village, quaint and gorgeous in equal measure and home to plenty of chocolate box cottages and houses. It is sits on a quiet lane between other similar villages and astride outstanding countryside all around. The village is only a few miles from the market towns of Chipping Norton, Stow on the Wold and Moreton in Marsh. If you need a quick, local shop for your basics then you can drive to Long Compton in about 3 mins drive or walk it along a country lane is about 30 mins - in fact as there is a good gastro pub in Compton, then its worth a good stroll to build your appetite (check opening times before you head off!!)
Moreton, Chipping Norton and Stow are all well known towns that have a wide selection of shops including supermarkets, restaurants and much more including their own farmers markets. All are definitely worth a visit at some stage of your stay.
Beyond Stow on the Wold and Chipping Norton are a wide selection of stunning villages, many with some superb pubs. Kingham is truly beautiful and has two top notch pubs The Wild Rabbit (owned by Daylesford and with a Michelin star, 2016) plus also the Kingham Plough which is similarly superb. The villages of Churchill and Bledington are two others worth visiting, and similarly they're blessed with superb gastro pubs too!!
Daylesford Orgainic Store is very much a popular location to visit, where you will find a restaurant, spa / sauna plus a farmshop to top them all. This is about 12 mins drive.
For other activities, the Cotswolds' Farm Park is an excellent day trip for young children, likewise the Cotswold Wildlife Park with its lions and rhinos!
