Nailsworth, Cirencester & surrounding area
Hidden in one of the Cotswolds' best kept secrets (Nailsworth - voted #32 in the top 50 places to live in Briitain by the Sunday Times), Gig Mill is a glorious holiday home set within an historic, converted mill - just as ideal for a weekend recharge as it is for a family holiday. The mill has a unique history as it is where the tennis balls for Wimbledon and the green baize for snooker tables were once made! Today it has been carefully and gradually brought back to life and now stands proud in an absolutely outstanding Cotswolds' location, nestling between Nailsworth and Minchinhampton, each bustling village/towns. There are miles of walks from your door, including the stunning Minchinhampton Common (plus 3 golf courses). The property borders Gatcombe Water, see pics, which once fed the mill's turbines, adjacent to Gatcombe Park the home of The Princess Royal. The lake is stunning filled with wildlife, where you can listen to the rush of the nearby waterfall. Inside the property you will find modern interiors, a cool contemporary kitchen with all the gizmos, a large living room and a stunning master bedroom suite. The second bedroom has its own ensuite too! Blissfully rural, deep in the Cotswolds, you are in real countryside with peace surrounding you and yet some of the regions' best pubs and shops all within a few miles!

We must highlight, that there is a lake (Gatcombe Water) about 100 yards away from the building, which whilst attractive and bustling with wildlife, care should be taken when bringing young children.

Gig Mill sits just outside Minchinhampton and Nailsworth - both beautiful, bustling local villages with thriving Cotswold communities and very authentic in their appeal. Minchinhampton is a collection of classic, period buildings nestling around a small market square. There are a collection of pubs and basic shops - all about 15 mins walk from the holiday property. Walks across the Minchinhampton Common are a must as they offer superb views across the Cotswold hills. If you fancy some golf, then you can play on the common, and we believe that any one can play (you don't need a golf handicap card) so it is an option for a bit of fun
Nailsworth which is the other direction boasts excellent amenities, all within 15 mins walk of the property. These include shops, boutiques, excellent restaurants and various cafes. The village/town has very good amenities: two good restaurants various gastropubs, cafes, a pizzeria plus Indian and Chinese take-aways. Slightly further afield are more excellent gastropubs, such as Tipputs, The Old Fleece and The Ram, and the award-winning Calcot Conservatory Restaurant, Spa and Gumstool Inn. There is a Waitrose supermarket and a Tesco Express (we'd suggest you probably drive). Stroud is 10 minutes' drive away and has all the major supermarkets.
There are many renowned attractions such as Westonbirt Arboretum, The Prince of Wales' Highgrove Farm shop at Tetbury, Woodchester Park, Newark Park (NT), Dyrham Park (NT), the Rococco Gardens at Painswick, Laurie Lee's Slad Valley, Minchinhampton Common and Owlpen Manor in the village of Uley. Bath is approx 45 minutes' drive to the south west, and Bristol about the same, with the airport another 10-15 minutes to the south
For major shopping all the high street names can be found at the award-winning Cribb's Causeway Mall, less than 45 minutes away on the M5 motorway.

"The cottage was beautiful just like the photo’s. The entrance is quite deceptive, it’s like a Tardis, so spacious. The rooms were so pretty, lots of lovely touches. Helen had left us lovely surprises, chocolates, muffins, wine and milk. A very enjoyable and relaxing break"kaur 2017-09-25
