Leafield, Burford & surrounding area
The Gallery Barn sits at possibly the highests point in the Cotswolds! How about that!? Originally an historic barn that was a meeting point when the entire area was covered by the ancient Wychwood Forest - sadly hundreds of years ago - today this big barn is still a great meeting point but instead of for hunting (!!) it is ideal for a family or pair of couples. The eye-catching living area with its vast floor-to-ceiling windows is a perfect spot to watch the world from. The light literally floods in and makes the room truly special. It is a specatacle to view the open countyside and village of Leafield in the distance from the sofa. The barn is spotlessly clean and well appointed, with well equipped kitchen and two ensuite bedrooms, one on the ground floor and one upstairs. If you love walking, this is a great base to launch from! The owner is keen birdwatcher and you'll find some great guides to help you spot all manner of local songbirds which frequent the garden, beyond which are nothing but fields with sheep and lambs.
This is brilliantly located for Burford, Stow on the Wold and Chipping Norton, and there are some superb pubs within a 5 - 10 min drive - The Swan in Ascott Under Wychwood and The Bull in Charlbury are especially recommended.

Set at the top of the hill, down a private drive The Gallery barn, is arguably the highest building in the whole of the Cotswolds. We say this because we know Leafield, the nearest village, is the highest village in the Cotswolds. Surrounded by nothing but fields and on a private road, you are in perfect countryside with some outstanding views across the Evenlode Valley.
Leafield is a small village with pub and shop and about 1 min by car. The barn is perfectly located for visiting many of the local areas of interest. Burford, Stow on the Wold and Chipping Norton which are all within 10 to 20 mins drive and where you will find a wide array of shops and restaurants. Your nearest pubs (and they're all good please note!) are to be found about 5 mins away in the villages of Ascott under Wychwood and Shipton under Wychwood. And if you're not eating out and simply want a good walk then the walk down to these villages on the back lanes is outstanding. The Shaven Crown in Shipton is reputedly the oldest pub in England....
Some of the very popular spots are near - Daylesford Organic shop is about 20 mins away, Oxford is about 20/25mins drive away. Other famous locations including The Cotswold Wildlife Park and Woodstock (Blenheim Palace) are no more than 15/20 mins away, while Stratford-upon-Avon, Cheltenham and Cirencester are easily accessible for a day trip.
"A Little Sanctuary in the Cotswolds! We loved this place! Out in the country surrounded by beautiful black-headed Cotswold sheep, we came back each day from the busy towns to our little refuge. Each of six days, we made forays to different parts of the Cotswolds, which all have their own personality. The closest town Burford is charming with all the amenities and several wonderful places to eat. (We loved the Angel best.) This place was ideally suited for two couples or a small family"N/A
