Bourton on the Water is probably the most popular (and famous) village in the Cotswolds, and often referred to as the "Venice of the Cotswolds" because the River Windrush runs right through the centre and has a number of bridges criss crossing it. The combination of this clear sparkling water and the attractive low bridges crossing it create a charming scene, best enjoyed in the quieter times of day and quieter months of the year.
There is a supermarket and various pubs, shops and attractions plus an abundance of traditional architecture to be found within the village. Upper and Lower Slaughter plus Stow on the Wold are all within 5 miles. Burford is 10 miles away with Cheltenham, Cirencester and Oxford all within easy reach.
There are many attractions in the village, suitable for visitors of all ages. The Model Village is a mini replica of the village itself, Birdland Park and Gardens offers woodland, river and gardens inhabited by over 500 birds, and the Cotswold Perfumery is a sensory experience with a difference!

"We loved the location and the ease of access to all the areas in the Cotswolds that we wished to visit. The owners are lovely and really welcoming. The setting of the property is beautiful and private and also very secure. We felt comfortable to leave the front door open almost all of the time that we were in the property. Also, the animals were really lovely!. Ms Knowles June 2016"Knowles 2016-06-18
