Doughton (meaning 'duck farm') is small hamlet situated a short distance from Tetbury and is a short drive from the world famous Westonbirt Arboretum. Tetbury is an excellent market town, located in the southern Cotswolds, thriving with many events through the course of the year (including the famous Woolsack Races at the end of May). Of particular note are the many antique shops in the town plus Royal shopping in the famous Highgrove Shop and at the Duchy's Veg Shed.
Tetbury, in our opinion, is the one Cotswold town which many people don't know enough of and therefore, often miss the opportunity to see. In fact we'd say it is possibly the nicest and most unspoilt town of all in the Cotswolds! Slightly further afield and for the more adventurous are Bath (30 mins) Cheltenham (35 mins) and Oxford (35 mins) along with many other villages and market towns along with National Trust properties and gardens. With the properties located near to Tetbury, there are a selection of activities nearby, including the world famous Westonbirt Arboretum plus a host of other Cotswolds attractions. This is an excellent choice for large parties looking for quality self catering accommodation in the Tetbury region..
This location in the southern Cotswolds (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) is amongst the finest the region has to offer.
"The cottage was excellent. Very clean, excellent standard of fittings and furniture. Very comfortable beds. Excellent kitchen facilities and space ample and easy to use. Beautifully renovated building with stunning features. The building was amply sized for our large family gathering. The big main dining area and table was perfect for us to all sit and eat together. This made the weekend very sociable and enjoyable. All of my family had an amazing weekend and everyone loved the cottage and garden. And the very friendly, athletic golden Labrador that visited us and entertained us was lovely. The owners were very friendly and helpful and made our stay relaxed. "This property is a really excellent base for a large group to have a comfortable holiday in the Cotswolds. It is well furnished, and the two kitchen and living room areas, and plentiful toilets and bathrooms mean that you are not queuing up to use them. There is a nice big dining table, so you can eat together too. There are some good attractions to see locally."Lynn 2016-10-27
