Northleach, Cirencester & surrounding area
Set in the grounds of a magnificent Cotswolds Manor, The Compton Cottage is every inch the rural idyll, a timeless property in a location that just breath-taking. Nestling on the banks for the River Coln deep in the Cotswolds hills, surrounded by farmland and with woods nearby, sits this beautiful and romantic gem. It feels as though this is where time stood still, a little lane beside the building where the occasional walker or tractor passes - but little else.
Once inside, you will find a very special home, a contemporary converted stable block that's filled with smart furniture and fabrics, and neat touches throughout that are just as welcoming to a couple as they are for a family. Original beams and features remain, remind you of the history of this grand old manor; downstairs is the shaker style kitchen ? high spec and a great place to cook and relax while upstairs is the living room, two luxury bedrooms and bathroom all with absolutely uninterrupted views across (typo) the countryside. You could not be more beautifully located for a Cotswolds' weekend or holiday retreat.
If you really want to switch off and unwind the owners can provide a home-cooked meal for you too! All you have to do is warm it up....

The Compton Cottage sits in (arguably) the most idyllic part of the Cotswolds' countryside. The Manor House, which the property is attached to, is a magnificent building and very much the classic country house. Along with beautiful grounds, there is even an art gallery too 'The Compton Gallery', with occasional shows through the year - and why the property has a selection of some attractive art throughout!
A short distance away from the location are the villages of Withington and Compton Abdale each very attractive and every inch the classic Cotswolds' village. Withington has a local pub which is a lovely local walk away. The Chedworth Roman Villa, which is well worth a visit, is nearby too - its ruins are beautifully preserved.
About 3 miles away is Northleach, no more than a big village, but officially a town! It has a few very basic shops, but a superb pub called The Wheatsheaf which has a excellent reputation for its food and we say is definitely worth a visit. The cottage is also well located for some more recognisable locations such as the famous Spa Town of Cheltenham and the market town of Cirencester. Both locations have seen some comnsiderable improvements in the recent years and offer a wide selection of quality shops, many unique to the local area, and where you will also find a good selection of places to eat. Cheltenham is of course especially well know for its racecourse, where regular events happen through the year, including the famous Cheltenham Gold Cup.
This location is an ideal base for exploring the Cotswolds, visiting the famous Cheltenham races or attending numerous local arts, music and food festivals.
