Uley, Tetbury & surrounding area
What a spot! The Cartins is a sweet, beautifully presented barn conversion situated on the edge of Selsley Common and with cracking views in all directions. The property, which sits in the grounds of the owner's home, was once the barn where 'carts where left in' - Cartins - and is in an elevated position in the grounds, and with the living room upstairs the views across the hills are almost uninterrupted. Guests can walk, literally, from their front door to the common and enjoy a good ramble and soak up the fresh air. Inside, the cottage is spread across two floors, with an excellent, sparkling kitchen / diner downstairs, while upstairs is the living room and bedroom, with all rooms very large. The barn, therefore, is very spacious for two but with a sofa bed can easily accommodate two more people if required*. As you would expect there are many good pubs nearby, with the The Bell only 5 mins walk away. This is an attractive and large self catering barn, perfect for walkers - or those who like to do nothing except look at the view!

Kitchen / Diner / Utility, super room - light and bright with gas hob and electric oven and grill, microwave, fridge and freezer compartment, washing machine and tumble dryer and oodles of storage space. Dining table and four chairs.

Selsley is a small village literally 'perched' deep in the Cotswold hills, towards the southern side of the area. It is a small village on the edge of the Stroud valley with super views in all directions and as a result offers some of the region's best walking, with Rodborough Common and Minchinhampton Common both nearby. In fact from your door, you can walk across the lane and be on Selsley Common and be able to take in some of the finest views!
Aside from the miles of beautiful walks in the area, there are a host of great places to visit. Nailsworth, which is about 2 miles away has a great selection of local shops and some excellent restaurants. The town has very good amenities: two good restaurants various gastropubs, cafes, a pizzeria plus Indian and Chinese take-aways. Bath is approx 45 minutes' drive to the south west, and Bristol about the same, with the airport another 10-15 minutes to the south.
There are many renowned attractions such as Westonbirt Arboretum, The Prince of Wales' Highgrove Farm shop at Tetbury, Newark Park (NT), Dyrham Park (NT), the Rococco Gardens at Painswick, Laurie Lee's Slad Valley and Owlpen Manor in the village of Uley.
Slightly further afield are more excellent gastropubs, such as Tipputs, The Old Fleece and The Ram, and the award-winning Calcot Conservatory Restaurant, Spa and Gumstool Inn. There is a Waitrose supermarket and a Tesco Express within walking distance. Stroud is 10 minutes' drive away and has all the major supermarkets.
For major shopping all the high street names can be found at the award-winning Cribb's Causeway Mall, less than 45 minutes away on the M5 motorway.
