Hay on Wye, Wye Valley, Forest of Dean & surrounding area
When your this close to the heavens, the views are spectacular! Perched on the hillside, high up and with nothing but 360degree views Bullens Bank is about as remote as you could wish for. It is, literally, breathtaking. Bring your boots, bring your coat, leave the city and leave work - this is all about getting back to your roots and filling your soul with fresh air and good old fashioned peace. No wifi, limited mobile reception you are here to get away!! The cottage is that classic sheperd's cottage, walls thicker than a mighty oak and ceilings low enough to remind you how much we've grown over the centuries you get the true feeling of being away from it all. Situated on the edge of the hillside and at the end of a track, you look out towards some stunning English/Welsh countryside, for as far as the eye can see with nothing but sheep, the wind and bracken to keep you company. Internally this 200 year old beauty is simply furnished, nothing swanky, just simple, clean and very cosy. This cottage is astonishing for its view alone but also offers superb value for money. The owners also have another property about 100 yards away down the hill, ideal for slightly larger groups, called Llangain.

Bullens Bank is situated close to the village of Dorstone, itself in the Golden Valley, Herefordshire. The village offers a thriving community with a church and pub serving good food. The Golden Valley offers excellent hillwalking and horseback riding with stunning scenery. Rich in farmland you will see some the coutry's most attractive countryside right on your doorstep.
Locally the area is highly regarded for walking with popular spots such as the Black Mountains and the Beacons National Park nearby. Hay-on-Wye, the second hand book centre of the world is 3 miles to the west, well supplied with eating-places. Swimming and canoeing on the Wye are excellent and pony trekking is available from several centres near Hay and in the Llanthony Valley.
Windsurfing, sailing and boating are available at Llangorse Lake. The Black Mountains Gliding Club is near Talgarth and there are microlights at Shobden Airfield. There are parascending courses on Hay Bluff too. Those who prefer not to drive up the steep track to the property can easily park off the road at the bottom though we have recently had quite a lot of work done on the track.!
