Stow on the Wold, Stow on the Wold & surrounding area
Set in the heart of Stow on the Wold, Benfield is a charming Cotswolds' cottage. Bedecked with Virginia Creeper, Benfield is a beautiful period townhouse which offers spacious accommodation spread across three (wonky!) floors, where the owner has created a stylish holiday home yet ensured that all the classic Cotswolds' 19th Century features are retained, making it a truly attractive place to stay. A large open fire, an Aga, beams, flagstone floors, oak beam all create a cosy feel, while modern facilities, luxury beds and bathrooms ensure that this offers high quality self catering accommodation. An enclosed and glass-roofed conservatory sits in the middle of the building, creating a light and airy additional living space, and bringing light to the kitchen and diner - heavenly! The ground floor is open plan, with French doors interconnecting all the downstairs living spaces. Fold-away doors open up onto a small triangular courtyard where potted, flowering plants grow. Upstairs are four beautiful, luxury bedrooms*, almost French in style with two bathrooms. Impossibly cute and homely, we fell in love with this cottage when we visited - and with everything in Stow no more than a stroll away, you really can park the car and not use it again until you leave!
Entrance from the street is into a lobby where coats and shoes can be left. Another door leads into the living room and ground floor accommodation.
Living Room with large inglenook fireplace with woodburner, large sofa, additional armchairs and seating, flatscreen TV with Freeview and DVD player. There is a desk and chair in the corner, along with a window seat in the bay window that overlooks the street.
Kitchen / Diner that overlooks the conservatory sitting room - we loved this space. The kitchen is homely and attractive, there is an Aga with 2 large hotplates, 3 ovens, a large fridge freezer, dishwasher and all the kit you could need for cooking.
Conservatory with comfortable day bed, side tables and wicker chairs, a wonderful, light-filled place to sit during the day, or spillover space where guests or children can play or read quietly.
Utility Room with washing machine and dryer.
Cloakroom with WC and washbasin.
Master Bedroom, truly gorgeous with original beams and oak floors, with double bed (4'6'') wardrobe, chest of drawers.
Bathroom with slipper bath, handheld shower attachment, washbasin and WC

Benfield is located on Sheep Street which runs through the heart of Stow on the Wold; some guests may be aware of the traffic noise, which is to be expected in a bustling market town. Cars etc pass the cottage at relatively slow speeds however.

This cottage is situated in the heart of Stow on the Wold. Situated on Sheep Street which runs through the centre of Stow and is literally a 'stone's throw' away from all the facilities. Stow, of course, is one of the Cotswolds most famous market towns, renowned for its quality shops, cafes and restaurants. Very much a working town, there is a market day each month as well some excellent little festivals which pepper the year.
Surrounding the town are a host of stunning villages with their pubs, which are well worth taking in and viewing. There are few better places to be than this area if you want to see 'classic Cotswolds'. We'd personally recommend Lower and Upper Swell, Lower and Upper Slaughter for a start, we could go on...!
Ever popular and beautiful is Bourton on the Water which is about 8 mins drive away, while places such as Burford, Moreton in Marsh and Chipping Campden are equally easy to get to. If you're coming with the children then we would definitely recommend the Cotswold Farm Park (Guiting Power) and the Cotswold Wildlife Park (nr Burford). Again, we could go on, but there is plenty to enjoy.
Finally but not least, you really must try some of the local National Trusts Gardens, incl Kiftsgate and especially Hidcote Manor Gardens, one of the best in the country. We think you've got plenty to do.....!!!
"My family and I recently stayed at the beautiful Benfield. The pictures online really don't do this fabulous property justice. It was super warm and cosy and immaculately presented. It had everything you could want and need and all of the rooms, especially the kitchen, were extremely well equipped. We even managed to grapple with the aga! We'd highly recommend, the perfect family getaway in a stunning location - we'll definitely be going back. "The P Family 2017-11-15
