Shipton under Wychwood, Burford & surrounding area
Appin Cottage is just so cute! Set down a quiet lane on the edge of this very attractive village, and with Burford and Chipping Norton a short drive up the road, you right in the heart of the Cotswolds. Not only that, but those with a taste for all things swish can either pop to Daylesford Organic Farm which is about 10 mins away or alternatively you can gorge yourself at the multitude of top notch pubs in the vicinity, all convenient enough for a walk (long or short!) Inside, Appin is a cosy rural retreat with snug woodburning stove which will keep you toasty all year round and large bedroom upstairs that you can soak up the views without so much as lifting your head off the pillow! The cottage is just spot on for a couple looking for a break and who fancy a little exploring - from this location you can do as little or as much as you wish.

Appin Cottage sits in a perfect spot on the edge of the historic village of Shipton under Wychwood. From your door you are able to take in some stunning scenery on some long walks deep into the Cotswold hills. The village is very much a traditional Cotswolds' one, packed with attractive, classic buildings and a collection of some top notch pubs. It sits about half way between Burford and Chipping Norton, each no more than 3 or 4 miles in each direction and each with resturants and some shops worth visiting. There are three villages that make up the Wychwoods (Milton, Shipton and Ascott) and these are part of the Wychwood forest that once upon a time covered the entire area. Today (sadly) there are only small woods dotted around the location, but the walks through them and around them are just as attractive as they were hundreds of years ago.
Shipton has three pubs in the village and all a very good standard: The Lamb, The Wychwood and The Shaven Crown. Each serve good food and local beer and do come well recommended. There is a basic shop for every day produce and goods, otherise you will be able to get more food etc in Chipping Norton.
If Daylesford is your thing, then you're a short drive away - just 10 mins from the Organic Farm and Store. Otherwise there are many organic farm shops nearby.
For those that wish to explore, the cottage and village is ideally placed in the central Cotswolds with places such as Stow on the Wold and Bouton the Water all within 15 mins drive and ideal for a visit. Further afield and well within a reasonable drive are Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle, Blenheim Palace and many other picturesque villages. Also close by are the Cotswold Wildlife Park.
If golf, fishing and riding appeal then all can be found within 5 miles of the cottage.
