    “I loved Point Cottage.”

It is so quaint and perfectly formed. Everything you can think you might need is there for you, just bring your own food and clothing. Our dogs loved the garden. We had a puppy with us who also loved the cottage and there were no accidents at all. I assumed she'd 'cracked it' but soon found out i was wrong once we got back home. Obviously the cottage's magic worked on her too. When we arrived there was a musty smell in the kitchen that we couldn't locate, but not bad enough to put ...

When we arrived there was a musty smell in the kitchen that we couldn't locate, but not bad enough to put us off and it improved as the week wore on. Puppy learned to do stairs, up and down, though she wasn't allowed upstairs - she was just exploring. There was a house sparrow's nest under the eaves on one side, and house martin nests on the other. We saw buzzards, red kites too. The bend in the stairs is a bit tricky - and much easier to navigate on all fours. Coming down is much easier, surprisingly. Board games galore, jigsaws, and leaflets on local attractions ensure there's always something to do. The fish and chips at the village pup was superb! The roads in the area are a bit of a challenge. Single vehicle lanes with 10 feet hedges on each side and lots of bends can result in some hairy situations. There are turning places, luckily, from time to time. The locals, of course are used to these roads and drive confidently on them. Its surprising to see how fast they can reverse to the passing place too. The best thing, we found, was finding a tractor going on our direction and tucking in close behind that. Everyone gives way to the tractors. [which are huge]. We visited lots of lovely places but the best by far was Hereford Cathedral with its copies of the Mappa Mundi, The Magna Carta of 1217 and the Hereford Gospels. OH, and don't miss the chained library. Very helpful guides , happy to answer questions. All in all a great week and i'd happy to go there again. Even if the weather was awful next time. The cottage has a lovely warm and homely feel to it.
