A well appointed cottage, very clean and with all the facilities necessary for a comfortable stay

Very welcoming, ideal place for the Forest walks.

The Woodman pub within walking distance by the cricket field, great owners. Very dog friendly and starting to do food in a few weeks. The cottage was just right for us and our dog. We would recommend Castle Rag.

Castle Rag has to be one of if not 'the' best accommodations i have stayed in!

I could literally live there, as there was everything you could think of that you'd find in an everyday house. The property was comfortable, clean, well equipped, in beautiful surroundings, In a beautiful part of the country, and the hosts were the nicest people you could meet! They were always on hand if needed, but also respected your privacy, and as I like a good old chat, popped down for a coffee and a natter. Such a lovely couple, doing such a lovely job. I'll definitely be back in the future.x

We have been visiting The Forest of Dean for 8 years and this is the best accommodation we’ve come across.

Neil and Rachel are the perfect hosts with nothing being too much trouble at all. The cottage is very well equipped, comfortable and clean with everything you need. Brilliant secure lock up for bike storage. Ideal for dogs as there is a secure gated entrance to the cottages and fencing all around the site. Will definitely be going back here in the future.

Nothing was too much trouble and they were ready and willing to help without being intrusive. The accommodation was smart, clean and perfect for us and our dog. The garden was well kept and accessible, and the surrounding area was lovely. Easy access to all the places we wanted to visit. Will definitely recommend and stay again.

Great property with lots of fantastic walks from the doorstep.

We last visited 3 years ago, and this is our 4th visit, I think!

There has been a change of ownership to Neil and Rachael, who were excellent hosts. They are new to hosting but are ticking every box as far as we are concerned. The property was spotless and had a lovely aroma on entry. Helpfully there was milk in the fridge. The fresh roses were a very nice touch. We received a warm welcome, and they were a great help when we had family round to visit. The cottage is warm and comfortable, and we were offered treats a bowl and a spare dog blanket for our lab by Racheal soon after arrival. Looking forward to a return to one of our favourite places. Parkend has a shop, pub and café in the village which are all friendly and of a very good standard. We went for the walking and wildlife. There is a fantastic choice of walking and cycling routes and places to hire bikes locally. you can use, and the village shop has maps. We were impressed by how welcoming by how friendly local people continue to be. There is a real feeling of a proper community here.

The place itself and the grounds are perfect.

Super dog friendly, she had a basket containing bowls, treats, towels and poo bags. This is the first sykes property where the dog had been thought of as a member of the family. The place is very well equipped with even an air fryer. Absolutely stunning walks nearby with many forest england amenities. It has bike storage as well, it is very secure and an enclosed garden. We will be returning to this one as our stay was so enjoyable. Thankyou to Neil and Rachel for a wonderful stay.
