“The property was extremely comfortable and a high standard, perfect for us (two friends and a dog).”

I would just mention that the furniture in the lounge area was slightly different to the photos on the website and, if anything, was newer and probably better. Also, the pub in the village was closed, possibly due to Covid. We visited some lovely Cotswold villages and would particularly recommend Bibury and the walk between Lower and Upper Slaughter, perhaps less popular than the usual tourist places.

Many thanks for your comments, we will endeavour to take new photo's of the lounge. It is great to hear Laughton's Retreat was prefect for you and that you visited some lovely villages. Bibury is one of our favourites. Manor Cottages. Property Owner

The property

Laughton's Retreat is set in a picturesque 'away from it all' location and has been thoughtfully converted to provide a basic standard of self catering accommodation.

Many guests return year after year!

The two bedrooms have the advantage of both having en-suite facilities and there is the wonderful under-floor heating throughout.

Quietly situated on a small, family farm and surrounded by fields, footpaths and bridleways with few disturbances in this expanse of countryside this holiday cottage is for those who enjoy peace and quiet.

Please note that owners have worked hard to provide accommodation which is all on one level and well appointed thus lending itself well to those with limited mobility.

About the location

STONESFIELD

Bicester 15 miles; Woodstock 5 miles.

Stonesfield is a small working village located about 4 miles to the north of Woodstock and about 8 miles from Oxford. There is a good size shops selling all the basic goods, a good local pub The White Horse plus a hairdresser!! Stonefield as the name suggests, was once known for its stone and today there is still the Stonesfield Slate, a locally mined stone. The Oxfordshire Way, passes through the village and is very close to the farm, and is well worth a good walk - it takes you through some stunning countryside. Adjacent to the farmhouse is a small farm shop and highly regarded local butcher.

Nearby is the famous Woodstock which has a very good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Blenheim Palace, of course, is the most famous landmark and attraction in the region and is certainly worth a visit. Similarly, but just a little bit further on is Oxford, famous for its colleges and 'dreaming spires'.

This is a great location for either touring the region or simply relaxing in a rural location with good facilities in walking distance.
