Blenheim Edge, The Causeway
Description
This Victorian stone cottage, built in 1874 and believed to be commissioned by the Churchills to replace the original Alms houses on the site, is situated in the beautiful market town of Woodstock in the Cotswolds, overlooking Blenheim Park.
This delightful cottage provides quality accommodation ideal for a romantic break or small family holiday in a picturesque location and is adjacent to the residents' gate providing access to the Park.
On the ground floor is a well-equipped kitchen complete with breakfast bar where you can enjoy a morning coffee or a more formal dinner can be enjoyed in the dining room looking out on to a pretty cottage garden with its garden wall overlooking Blenheim Park.
After a day exploring this gorgeous historic area you can relax in the cosy sitting room, in front of the warming woodburning stove on the chilly evenings.
Make your way upstairs to the two charming bedrooms while the bathroom is ideally situated on the ground floor.
The enclosed cottage garden is a mix of mature borders with seating area ideal for enjoying alfresco dining on a summer's evening.
Take a stroll around Blenheim Park which is adjacent to the cottage and enjoy the stunning surrounds created by Capabililty Brown, enjoy the beautiful Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
Many lovely walks can be enjoyed from the doorstep of the cottage and the delightful town of Woodstock, just five-minute walk, boasts individual shops, tea rooms and many traditional pubs.
Blenheim Edge not only overlooks the Queen Pool and walkways in the Blenheim Estate, but it is situated on the main A44 Stratford to Oxford Road, also known as 'Shakespeare's Way'.
It is believed Shakespeare left his home in Stratford-Upon-Avon for London between 1585 and 1588 and may have passed through Woodstock on his way to London, breaking his journey to stay in Oxford where he had friends.
A short drive takes you to many unspoilt Cotswold towns and villages, the university town of Oxford as well as an abundance of National Trust properties.
A perfect base for a memorable holiday at any time of year.

On arrival we could not find parking, 10 hrs was the maximum with a no return for a while.
so unable to leave the car in a safe place had to park the car in a lay by on the out skirts of the town. There was no privacy from the rear of the property, no curtains or blinds, on rear double door or conservatory even though the bathroom was through the conservatory with no privacy. Furniture and bedroom blinds need maintenance, living room, Settees very low and uncomfortable, One chair with a broken leg. Kitchen, Tiled work tops had gaps in them. Microwave rusty inside, pedal bin was dirty inside the lid. toilet seat loose and twisted. Came home a day early, despite the area being excellent, beautiful surroundings, and weather good for us. The cottage needs general maintenance throughout.
Very cosy cottage.
Having milk and some essentials provided was great and the logs and firelighters was the icing on the cake!!!
A lovely cottage and as the name suggests, right on the edge of Blenheim Park, an ideal location for visiting the Palace and Woodstock, however, parking is a problem, although we did find somewhere eventually, out of the permit zone.
The cottage is comfortable, but general maintenance would not go amiss, lights, doors, switches, etc.,sometimes it’s the little things that make the difference, trying to find the lamp switches behind the bed was a pain, an outside light at the back would be helpful, and perhaps a few logs(there were none ),to complete the experience of a nice comfy cottage.
