Lovely welcome and help when needed (re recycling!) Comfy bed and cosy lounge. Just perfect for an Autumn stay. Some nice eating places nearby and lots of interesting visiting attractions within easy reach. We loved our stay.

The property

The Piggery is one-of-a-kind in every way - not just in name!

This historic barn, which originally housed (you guessed it!) pigs, has been renovated into a friendly and intimate holiday home with the most stunning views across rolling Gloucestershire countryside down to the River Severn, hidden down a little lane.

The proprietors are fantastic hosts, greeting you with seasonal flowers and a delicious sponge cake, and enthusiastically providing recommendations for things to do in the area.

Of course, you could just relax inside or outside and soak in the breathtaking views - the photographs don't do it justice!

The gardens are full of cottage-style flora, and the 'Viginia Creeper' that cloaks the barn and changes practically daily is truly stunning.

Inside, light pours in via wide windows in every room, which are all generously proportioned and tastefully decorated to match the building and location.

Despite the fact that you're in a wide meadow, civilisation is just down the road, with a fine bar and a little shop just 800 yards away.

This is a unique and traditional holiday property that is well worth the trip and the effort to find because once you arrive and see the vista, you will instantly relax.

It's fantastic.

Because the lodging is all on one level, it is accessible to persons with limited mobility.

Please notice that there is no electric car charging station.

About the location

WOOLASTON

Chepstow 5 miles; Monmouth 14.5 miles; Ross-on-Wye 20 miles.

The pretty village of Woolaston nestles peacefully between the eastern edge of the Forest of Dean and the River Severn in Gloucestershire. Local services in the village consist of a shop, Post Office and three pubs serving food. The stunning countryside of the nearby Forest of Dean and Offa's Dyke provide excellent walking, cycling, fishing and nature watching opportunities. Visit the historic walled town of Chepstow with its impressive Norman Castle and the celebrated racecourse, whilst the pretty market town of Monmouth, with its stunning stone-gated bridge and the riverside market town of Ross-on-Wye with timbered Tudor houses, excellent shops and restaurants are within reach. Also within driving distance are the 12th century abbey of Tintern, and if you fancy some retail therapy, the cities of Newport and Cardiff are an hour’s drive away, or cross the Severn Bridge and visit Bristol and Bath.
