“What a beautiful property!”

It felt so comfortable and had absolutely everything we needed for a couple of days away. The location is great and we easily found parking just a moments walk away from the property. Information provided about the property was helpful & we had a very relaxing stay. Blue Zucchini is great for a coffee / food and the bakeries in Tetbury had the most delicious cakes and breads!!

The property

14 The Green is a historic three-storey semi-detached cottage located in the middle of Tetbury, Gloucestershire.

The home, which dates back to 1650, is rich with uniqueness and charm, making it an ideal setting for a party of four or two couples.

Make your way inside after parking on the street or in a close by car park to be greeted with a beautifully furnished open-plan living room, where two inviting armchairs allow you to unwind in front of the woodburning stove's crackling flames.

Head to the shaker-style kitchen after warming yourself by the fire, where a decent variety of appliances will help you cook up a delectable meal to be enjoyed at the eight-seater, wooden dining table.

For extra convenience, there is also a fridge and a freezer in the cellar.

After dinner, make your way up the spiral staircase to an elegantly furnished sitting room with period furniture for you to lounge on, in front of the TV.

The well-presented bathroom is also on this floor, where you can relax in the bath before ascending the stairs to the two lavishly furnished bedrooms.

Choose from a king-size or a double room, both of which have inclined ceilings with rustic, wooden beams.

A small but attractive courtyard is to the rear of the property, where you can enjoy some alfresco meals; during the cooler months, make sure to toss some logs into the woodburning stove to give the space a warm glow!

Spend some time exploring the town and what is beyond; historically, much of the town's prosperity was based on the wool trade, and many of the wool merchants' houses are still the same now as they were when they were erected in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Why not pay a visit to the Grade 1 listed Market House, which has served as the town's focal point for centuries and the site of twice-weekly markets (the name 'chipping' in Old English means 'market').

Tetbury is currently recognised for its antiques, vintage, and décor shops, as well as upscale boutiques and the Highgrove shop (Prince Charles lives nearby, at Highgrove).

The town hosts a variety of events throughout the year, many of which reflect the town's rich legacy: the Wacky Races (May Day), the Woolsack Races (Spring Bank Holiday), Summer show (August), Food & Drink Festival (September), Tetbury Music Festival (October), and Christmas in Tetbury Lights switch-on (early December).

Cirencester 10 miles.

Tetbury retains a wealth of character within its ancient streets. The town’s origins date back to 681, but it was during the Middle Ages that it flourished as one of the major markets for The Cotswold wool trade. Nowadays The Market Hall is still home to a busy general market every Wednesday, whilst the town as a whole is something of a mecca for antique hunters with several shops in the town and regular fairs in the vicinity. Closeby is the Forestry Commission’s Westonbirt Arboretum, one of the largest collections of rare shrubs and trees in Europe, whilst further afield (but still within easy driving distance) are the elegant Regency cities of Bath and Cheltenham, Shakespeare’s Stratford and other attractions such as the internationally renowned Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust.

PLEASE NOTE: this cottage dates from the 1600's and has low ceilings. Some of the stairs in the cottage date from when it was originally constructed, and as such may not be suitable for those with limited mobility, or for young children.
The freezer and main fridge are located in the cellar - accessed via a stone staircase from the lounge.
