    “There are a few issues of practicality: The beds are too large for the rooms, in particular the smaller of the two where it is not possible to get round the end of the bed which would mean climbing over your partner if you needed the loo.”

    The shower has a low ceiling so the shower only just clears my head, and I’m only 5’7”. The seating in the kitchen has three stools, OK for a breakfast/snack but not very comfortable for any longer or if you have a dodgy back. If there were a forth person then they would have to use the window “seat” which is about 8” wide and only big enough for a small child. Finally I think it should be pointed out in the description that staircase to the bedrooms is quite steep and narrow and ...

Generally the “look”, which is very good, has taken precedence over comfort and convenience.

This will provide a different experience from staying in a modern property. The owner has provided roomy comfortable beds so that guests can enjoy a pleasant night’s sleep. But there are constraints to the size of the rooms. Howman House is a wonderful Grade II listed property which sleeps four guests, in two stylish bedrooms, with a modern family bathroom.

Rivalling the interior of a boutique hotel, this stunning apartment boasts bold and elegant design which has been beautifully complemented by character features such as exposed beams and exposed Cotswold stone walls.

Modern facilities include wireless internet access, a Smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen, and free on-street parking is available a short walk from the property. Howman House is situated in the centre of Stow-on the-Wold, one of the best-known towns in the Cotswolds.

Stow is home to a number of restaurants, pubs, tearooms and shops, and every second Thursday of the month, the Farmers’ Market sets up in the market square, showcasing quality local produce.

Overlooked by St Edward's Church, the picturesque market square retains its old town stocks, medieval cross and narrow alleys, or "tures", which wind their way from the surrounding streets into the square. The staircase leads up into the living room, and the following rooms are on the first floor: Living room: Overlooking the historic market square, this elegantly styled living area boasts exposed beams, a panelled feature wall and a glass banister.

With beautiful furnishings, this room contains a two-seater sofa, two armchairs, cowhide stool, ornamental fireplace, wall-mounted Smart TV and a selection of board games; Kitchen: The tastefully decorated kitchen showcases some of the original Cotswold stone walls and has a picturesque outlook towards St Edward's Church.

This lovely room contains an electric oven with four-ring gas hob, fridge with small freezer compartment, Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, cafetière and a smart wooden table with seating for four. A winding staircase leads up from the first floor landing to the second floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: This luxurious bedroom overlooks the square and contains a king size bed, wall hooks, two bedside tables, a mirror and a stool; Bedroom 2: Featuring stylish furnishings, this bedroom contains a double bed, clothes rail, two bedside tables, mirror and stool; Family bathroom: Finished to a high standard, the striking bathroom contains a walk-in rain shower with separate handheld shower attachment, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail.

Note: The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, this is a traditional fair for people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted; Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed.
