    Stow is a lovely town and it was a great starting point for walking or exploring the Cotswolds more broadly. We would definitely stay there again.

(The kids would have liked to have been able to connect their gadgets to the TV downstairs - so you might suggest to people they can bring an HDMI cable with them.)

The property

Located at the very heart of the ancient market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, Church View Apartment is the perfect location for a break from everyday life with your family or friends.

Arranged over the first and second floors, the apartment has undergone a complete transformation to cater for today's increasingly discerning guest and provides a wonderful retreat from which to explore the beauty of The Cotswolds.

Entering from the street take the stairs to the first floor, where you will find the light and airy sitting room; the perfect place to sit and relax should the weather turn inclement.

The first floor also provides you with a lovely open plan kitchen diner, equipped with everything you could need to create mouth watering delights.

The kitchen also gives access to a fabulous feature - the spacious roof terrace, where when weather permits you will be able to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining.

Going back through the sitting room the stairs rise to the second floor, where you will find two cool and contemporary double bedrooms (the master being equipped with a wall mounted smart TV), as well as the beautifully appointed family bathroom (bath with shower over).

To explore all that Stow has to offer you need simply open your front door and there it is!

Believed to date back to the 10th century when it was originally settled as a fortification due to its location, you can meander through the narrow streets, apparently created in this manner to control livestock sold at the regular fairs, to now find a selection of quaint shops and tearooms to sample.

You will also pick up on the importance of the town during the English Civil War; enjoy a refreshing pint in historic King's Head, or a bite to eat in the Porch House.

If you travel slightly further afield, Bourton-on the-Water lies just 4 miles away and provides an extremely tranquil experience; known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds', it provides its visitors with picturesque bridges to stroll across and is host to attractions including the Cotswold Motoring Museum, Model Village and Birdland.

Also within easy reach lie the quintessential Cotswold towns of Burford and Broadway - both only 10 miles away.

The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase.
