“We enjoyed our stay in your cottage.”

It had everything we needed Very comfy beds with good quality bedding, great water pressure so the shower was good and decent towels. We enjoyed the log burners. My granddaughter and I particularly enjoyed feeding the goats, chickens and Shetland pony. The kitchen is well equipped and actually had decent knives which cut! (The tin opener doesn’t work). Lots of nice walks from cottage and it’s only a couple of miles to walk into Tetbury. Thank you it was great would definitely recommend you. My daughter in law says the food in the pub opposite is delicious!

“Overall a lovely break away.”

The property was lovely and as described however two things made it less than perfect. Firstly in such a premier property we would have expected that in the faily bathroom there was a shower facility within that bathroom. It only had a bath and toilet/washbasin. It needs a shower facility so that whilst the master bedroom had an on suit shower which was great the other bathroom didn't have a shower...disappointing. The only other issue was two of our dogs were able to access the adjacent field as the fence didnt totally encompass the property safely. There were chickens and ponies adjacent and if the dogs got through a serious issue may have ensued.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry you felt the cottage didn't meet your expectations, but it does state a bathroom with a bath and an en-suite with a shower on our website. I will make your suggestion to the owner to look into in the future. With regards to the garden, if you have dogs, we would never say a garden is dog proof, as much as owner try, if a dog want's to get out they will. “This is a beautiful cottage , very high spec , beautiful traditional features , furnitures and pictures just beautiful.”

There was the added bonus of the lovely wee ponies at the back ! Would highly recommend this place. Pub across the road serves excellent food and pizzas and the accommodation is at a great location to explore the cotswolds ( Tetbury and Mamelbury are beautiful) . The owner very responsive and helpful. To those people who complained about the wood lice , I have to say we have not noticed many , this is the countryside so it’s within reason that there will be a few insects about .. please don’t let this deter you from this beautiful property.

“Fabulous stay in Tetbury!”

Absolutely gorgeous cottage in a lovely setting. Very small critism which would not stop us returning but is worth pointing out, there are a fair few woodlice that live in the cottage. They're not too instrusive and didnt ruin our stay in anyway but they are in every room. Also, the grill and grill pan was dirty and not clean from the last time it was used. Again, didnt ruin our stay we just washed it before we used it. Nice friendly owner, lovely pub across the road serving nice food. Fab location all in all, would absolutely recommend. Loads of Pubs/cafes were dog friendly. We discovered the Rattlebone inn on our second to last day, disappointed we didnt find it sooner. Would return and would recommend!

“The cottage is not detached, as the photo seems to suggest.”

It is at 90 degree orientation to the high Street and actually an end of terrace. We were quite phased by the many woodlice that seemed to magic themselves up, in the bath, in the bedroom floors, in fact everywhere. We did contact the owner and she arrived with some spray. As there were so many, would suggest that you keep on top of this as many eggs must be in the house. No local shop....come with everything. The garden table was a great asset and a wonderful place to eat and hear the abundance of birds. It was well situated to the many beautiful villages. The cat and custard pot was a lovely pub and just opposite. The gated drive was an asset and kept our dog safe. If you have problems, contact the owner quickly. She lives adjacent and is helpful. I wish I had contacted her sooner. Hope you enjoy your stay.

“A really comfortable period house which immediately felt welcoming and homely.”

The accommodation is superb with a spacious,well appointed kitchen which has everything one could want if self catering. The living room is large and very comfortable with antique furnishings and a log burner if required. Bedrooms are very good with comfortable mattresses and top quality bedding. The main bedroom has an en suite with a walk in shower which could do with a better shower head and it would be nice to have had a second shower in the other bathroom. The garden is large and in summer will be great to use along with the enormous patio. Certainly one of the nicest holiday homes we have had in this country. The area is beautiful with plenty of interesting places to visit.

“The cottage was beautiful set in a lovely garden and village.”

The facilities were excellent with everything provided for. The beds were extremely comfortable. The Garden and drive where very secure and enclosed which gave us added comfort of letting our dog roam around. We were working also while we were there, one thing I would suggest to visitors is to make sure they have WiFi calling enabled on your phone as the signal is very low ( I had to get this specifically added to my service at no extra cost ) this is very common in the Cotswolds by the way, we bought with us a WiFi extender which made sure we have strong WiFi across the house and gardens. The owners are lovely and are always willing to help or assist with anything if needed. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone - we would have loved to have stayed more than two weeks.

“We had a lovely week in this really comfortable, tastefully decorated and well equipped cottage.”

The village is lovely, with a great and welcoming pub across the road. Despite it being March, our two year old daughter really enjoyed playing in the garden, which is very safe and enclosed and we found plenty to occupy her in the area , including visiting 3 national trust properties and Westonbirt Arboretum. “We had a most enjoyable stay and the house met our expectations - and in some cases exceeded it!”

Previous reviews were helpful and the house was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and well equipped. With plenty of cutlery and crockery and cooking utensils etc and seating for 6 (photos only show 4 but there are at least 8 matching chairs!) the house was beautifully warm with underfloor heating as well as radiators and wood burning stoves. Hot water was plentiful although with a preference for many people to take showers rather than baths, the one en suite shower to the main bedroom was used by all six adults staying as the main bathroom only had a bath with no shower attachment (also mentioned in a previous review). We were more than happy with the feather and down bedding (although it was helpful to have read a previous review about this so I could check with all staying the weekend), and the quality of bedding and towels etc was excellent. The village location is quiet with a fantastic pub opposite - weekend bookings essential! Tetbury and Malmsbury are close by for supermarket shopping (Tesco and Waitrose) as well as antique shops and lovely independent shops and boutiques. Welcome breakfast treats were much appreciated and enjoyed. The owner called by just after we arrived and nothing would have been too much trouble should we have needed to ask! A fantastic weekend in a beautiful house and we would definitely book again for a stay in the Cotswolds.

Fantastic walks from the door, great food at pub over the road. Worth noting all bedding is feather/down; some people are allergic to this type of bedding. Sofa in lounge not very comfortable, needs restuffing or new cushions. We had a fabulous relaxing stay

“The cottage is a gem.”

Thick Cotswold walls and wooden beams log fires and all mod cons. The loving room is great for family get togethers and the kitchen seats 6 in comfort around a lovely wooden table. Malmesbury is just a 6-minute drive and Tetbury even less. We love it. The welcome and contact during the visit was lovely. I couldn't recommend a better place for a weekend away - even the pub is just 20 steps away across the road. Love it.

“I’ve spent an amazing few days with friends at the cottage.”

On arrival we had some croissants and a few other bits waiting for us which was a nice surprise. The fireplace makes the living room really nice and cosy and the underfloor heating in the entrance hall and utility area was a lovely surprise. The beds and bedding were so comfy. The kitchen was lovely to cook and spend time in but we also made use of the nearby pub which is literally a stones throw away, across the road. The main bathroom upstairs would be nice if it had a shower head as there’s only a shower in the en-suite. Apart from that I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. My friends and I loved it. I hope to be back one day.

“The house was in a lovely village but the main issue was the staircase.”

This was not shown on any of the images on the website and was not suitable for anyone with mobility issues (which my father has). There has obviously been problems before as there are warning signs at the top and bottom of the stairs about slipping. The chairs and settee in the living room again are not suitable for elderly people. This should be stated on the website descriptions.

“Hollywell in Shipton Moyne is a wonderful cottage set in the middle of a lovely village right across from a welcoming gastropub.”

What more could you want? We had a wonderful time exploring the Cotswolds and all it has to offer from this lovely cottage in Shipton Moyne just outside Tetbury. The cottage has everything you need for 6 people to have a nice time. We loved the furnishing and thought it was a tastefully furnished house and we felt at home. The owner is nearby and was there for all our queries, they were super hospitable. The village is in a bit of a dead zone for mobile and the wifi had limited bandwidth, but that is not entirely within the control of the owner. It did not limit our holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay nonetheless. I recommend this cottage and would readily stay there again.

“Beautiful cottage in lovely location.”

Warm and cosy - enjoyed the underfloor heating in the hall, as well as the wood burning stove in the living room. Well equipped, and thoughtful touch by the owners in leaving breakfast essentials etc. The pub opposite was v convenient for a drink and dinner, and there were great walks across the fields from the front door. Really enjoyed our break here and would definitely recommend.

The property

Number 11, Hollywell is absolutely and in every way tasteful, sweet and enjoyable!

Recently modernised by the owners who have overseen a careful regeneration of this beautiful Cotswolds property and created a spacious and sumptuous home that is ideal for couples, families and groups alike given the layout and location.

The top-notch kitchen is a cook's delight as well as being light and bright and enjoying a view to the garden.

The Living Room with its wood burning stove is as cosy in the winter as it is gorgeous in the summer.

And upstairs are three good size bedrooms and two bathrooms all very smart yet homely.

Outside you've got a large garden, also presented in an immaculate way where kids can knock a ball about.

However and perhaps the 'cherry on the cake' for this home is the location in this gorgeous village and the unmistakably named Cat and Custard Pot pub which sits across the street, literally 20 yards away!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this cottage, the pub and the village - in fact given that you have everything here, we can't imagine you wanting to go anywhere else!

Tetbury is a few minutes away so you've got some super shops around the corner too.

TETBURY

Cirencester 10 miles.

Tetbury retains a wealth of character within its ancient streets. The town’s origins date back to 681, but it was during the Middle Ages that it flourished as one of the major markets for The Cotswold wool trade. Nowadays The Market Hall is still home to a busy general market every Wednesday, whilst the town as a whole is something of a mecca for antique hunters with several shops in the town and regular fairs in the vicinity. Closeby is the Forestry Commission’s Westonbirt Arboretum, one of the largest collections of rare shrubs and trees in Europe, whilst further afield (but still within easy driving distance) are the elegant Regency cities of Bath and Cheltenham, Shakespeare’s Stratford and other attractions such as the internationally renowned Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust.
