“This cottage exceeded our expectations.”
Well kept , well equipped, tastefully decorated and everything had a quality feel about it. The owner , Lorraine was so helpful . We have booked this cottage again for December . Best cottage we have stayed at in 12 years.
“We were in an ideal location for the Forest of Dean.”
..plenty of lovely walks. The cottage was gorgeous and so comfortable. Best nights sleep in a long while. Lots of dog friendly pubs not too far away offering excellent food. Would highly recommend.
“We were a little disappointed in the old dairy lodge.”
It was not very clean and the seating area outside was extremely uncomfortable to the point of my clothes getting pulled on the very sharp edges of the table and the benches.Could have been better inside with more up to date seating. Also we found the slate flooring really made it feel and look cold.I know it’s for people who take dogs, which we do ,but all way through the lodge is going a bit far.Would be more practical with cushion floor and easier to clean. We will not be visiting again. But this does not put us off Sykes’s cottages at all.Usually we have been very satisfied with our accommodation.
I am sorry the cottage and the Forest of Dean wasn't to your taste Mrs Sykes but I am shocked and surprised that you state the cottage wasn't very clean. These cottages are my pride and joy and I personally clean them myself. The cottage was cleaned thoroughly and completely before your stay and, indeed, many of the previous reviews draw attention to how clean the cottages are. I have never had a guest complain about this before and am saddened by this poor review. Owner relations
