“We had a lovely time in this cottage.”

Very clean and comfortable with everything you could need. The impact of coronavirus meant that we were the first guests of 2020, so a big thanks to owners Peter and Carol for allowing our stay to go ahead - excellent hosts, accessible but not obtrusive. A unique setting with exceptional privacy and seclusion and with some lovely walks from the doorstep and within the immediate vicinity. Each bedroom has a lovely en-suite (actually full bathrooms) and plenty of cupboard / wardrobe space. We were out and about most days but the highlight of each day was returning to the cottage for a glass of wine on the Crow’s Nest followed by a cosy evening in front of the woodburner. Lovely.

The property

Located in Cranham, Gloucestershire, in the heart of the Cotswolds, Lakeside Cottage is perched on a hillside looking towards a wooded valley and two lakes, giving you a view you are unlikely ever to forget.

Peace, tranquility and convenient location make this an amazing holiday choice that we're convinced will have you returning! Inside the owners have created a beautiful feeling with traditional oak-beamed interior that offers a real home-from-home vibe. The Lounge features a comfortable traditional style sofa with two matching armchairs and oak furniture, a large TV with FreeSat, DVD Player and CD Player, and an attractive stone chimney breast, housing a cosy woodburning stove- added for your comfort. The separate kitchen is at the front of the property with views down to our private fishing lakes.

You can enjoy home cooked meals from the table with seating for up to four people.

The Kitchen is fully equipped with halogen hog, electric grill oven, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. Alternatively, you could eat your evening meals in the more elegant surroundings or our separate Dining Room, which is at the back of the property, with a large oak dining table, four chairs and a Welsh dresser. Lakeside boasts two exceptionally spacious fully furnished bedrooms: one with double bed and one twin beds.

Both Bedrooms have large en-suite bathrooms, one with a Shower and the other has a bath. Outdoors, there is no lawn as such but down some steps, you have exclusive use of a private decking area, know as The Crow's Nest, which is built into the hillside, overlooking uninterrupted views of the magnificent countryside, and from where you will have incredible views down our own private valley towards the village of Painswick. This is the most scenic location you will find - enjoy a refreshing glass of wine at the provided table and chairs, while watching the wildlife through your binoculars. Nearby are many historic buildings, both grade I AND II listed.

Also picturesque villages showcasing cosy Cotswold cottages, many of which have been built from the local yellow limestone. There is so much to see in this area.

It is a place you need to visit to believe how striking it really is. Lakeside Cottage is ideal for a short break or cosy holiday.
