“I had a wonderful walking holiday in the Cotswolds.”

It was great to come back to the home comforts of the Old Cider House after a long day slogging through the muddy fields. This is a very well appointed property on a working equestrian centre. Friendly and helpful owner. I would highly recommend this property for a solo traveller or couple.

About the location

PRESTBURY

Cheltenham 2 miles; Tewksbury 10 miles; Gloucester 12 miles; Cirencester 16 miles.

The historic Cotswold village of Prestbury lies on the edge of the spa town of Cheltenham, surrounded by beautiful Gloucestershire countryside and claims to be the most haunted village in England! The village offers a range of amenities including a village shop and a Post Office, traditional village pubs and a local butcher. Prestbury Park, home to Cheltenham Racecouse, is ideally located below the escarpment of the Cotswold Hills and plays host to the annual, world famous Gold Cup races, as well as numerous other horse racing events throughout the year. This regency spa town boasts historic Georgian architecture and an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, pubs and visitor attractions. Other festivals in this vibrant town cover literature, jazz, science, cricket, food and drink and comedy to name but a few! The whole area offers excellent walks and bridleways, with the Cotswold Way within easy reach, or for something a little different, why not try your hand at polo, at the nearby Longdole Polo Club. The historic city of Gloucester offers Roman foundations, Victorian Docklands and a magnificent Norman cathedral, whose cloisters where used as a location in the Harry Potter films, plus a bustling city centre. Many unspoilt Cotswold towns and villages lie to the east of Prestbury, whilst to the west lies the magnificent Royal Forest of Dean and the Slimbridge Wetland Centre. The beautiful World Heritage city of Bath, Shakespeare's birthplace of Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick, with its magnificent castle, are all within an hour’s drive of Prestbury, making it the perfect base for a holiday exploring the Cotswolds, all year round!
