“We had a lovely week in the Cotswolds the house was like a home from home , clean and comfortable with a lovely sunny garden .”

Obviously as we were visiting just after restrictions had been lifted things were not back to normal yet , not all pubs and cafes we’re open yet so we had a fair few takeaways we which enjoyed eating in the conservatory or garden . Our only small complaint was the bed had a very heavy duvet on which considering how lucky we were with the weather made it hard to sleep sometimes , a summer weight duvet would have been better. We appreciated the tea , coffee , milk and biscuits provided on our arrival , a very nice gesture . All in all a lovely house with excellent access to the Cotswolds, we visited all the local villages enjoying Bourton on the Water , Broadway , Cirencester , Hidcote gardens ( National Trust ) and Blenheim Palace especially.

“We had a lovely break; it's an extremely quiet cottage, despite being so close to Moreton High Street.”

Well equipped (though when they say to bring your own oven gloves and tea towel, they really mean it) and having the conservatory to eat in is a definite plus (watching the occasional train purr quietly by). We particularly appreciated the laminated walks leaflets that had been left in the cottage and the generous welcome pack was a nice touch. Surprised that the house is only listed as sleeping 2, as there is certainly room for 3 people, with a double and single bedroom.

Nice welcome pack and lots of extras included such as bird seed and liquid wash, conditioner for washing machine. Nice not to have to use the car all the time e.g train ride to Oxford very enjoyable.

Moreton in Marsh is a perfect central Cotswold location within easy reach of many other attractive places such as Chipping Campden, Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water.

The Cotswold Wildlife Park, Cotswold Farm Park, Motor Museum, Birdland and Model Village are all a short drive away.

MORETON-IN-MARSH

Stow-on-the-Wold 4.5 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 8 miles; Stratford-upon-Avon 16 miles; Cheltenham 23 miles; Oxford 31 miles.

The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh lies on the Fosse Way Roman Road in the northern Cotswolds and boasts many elegant 18th century buildings, which are home to traditional inns, serving real ales and home-cooked food, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also boasts it's own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the town, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Less than five miles away is Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. It lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham. This town boasts an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, and is famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase.
