“The cottage was in a fantastic location, we couldn't have wished for better but the access was dreadful and parking to get in and out comfortably was for two cars only or three very small cars otherwise you have to reverse out which is impossible without damaging cars and wall.”

The garden was grubby , no attention made to put in some winter flowers and pots overgrown, looked unloved. Paying double for NY we expected better. The furniture smelled of dog and we were sure cats had been in there as my husband has asthma and is allergic... We noticed the lounge blind had been ripped to shreds by what looked like cat scratches..lots of dust around also especially the top bedroom lamps which had not been dusted for a while and a dead fly left to greet us so not been cleaned thoroughly . However, the main facilities were very clean. Kitchen, bathrooms and bedding ... Lighting not very good and had to hunt for somewhere bright to put my make up on and read. We wanted to use the washing machine for personal clothes but noticed dog hair and mud in it so didn't bother. Overall, we had a lovely stay meeting family and friends. The owner left a bottle of wine which was very nice. Would we go back ?.. probably not.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to feedback on Culver View Cottage, it is very much appreciated. It is a great idea to put some fresh winter plants into the pots whilst we are waiting for the bulbs to start blooming and we will put this into place immediately. We do only accept dogs at the property and the only explanation is a cat was sneaked into the cottage. I will flag your feedback on dust and the fly to the housekeeper, generally she does a great job, so many apologies that you found lamps dusty. It is easy to overlook things occasionally, and she will be mortified. I am visiting the property soon and will do a full quality check including the blind, however the multi layers are a design feature. I am sorry you felt the drive was narrow and parking was difficult, however due to the location we have only had good feedback on the parking. Sorry our cottage didn't meet your expectations but thank you very much for visiting and leaving your feedback. Owner Owner relations

The property

Culver View rests in the historic market town of Malmesbury, enjoying an impressive outlook over charming Cotswolds houses and buildings.

One of the earliest buildings in the town, it played host to the Civil War Military Governor, and was the base for the 18th century election fixing by a local squire, when Malmesbury was a 'rotten borough'.

With a character feel throughout and a wide range of activities nearby, families and friends will jump at an opportunity to stay in this beautiful retreat.

The kitchen/diner welcomes you inside, with modern fixtures and fittings to help you during your stay.

French doors open out onto the patio, ideal for those long summer evenings.

The sitting room boasts a pleasant feel with comfy seating and a woodburner taking the chill away from those cold winter nights.

The first floor plays host to a double and twin room (this room can also be set up as a king size double if preferred), followed by a delightful family bathroom.

Up on the second floor is the master suite with its very own adjoining shower room.

To the exterior, make the most of the enclosed garden, decorated with mature plants and trees, welcoming a plethora of wildlife.

The property welcomes your four legged friends!

There is space below the kitchen work surface for a doggie bed, and there are hooks by the kitchen doors for leads and towels. There is even a pet shower with a hot and cold mixer hose, to give your dogs a wash before stepping back inside from a muddy walk (there are walks just minutes from the house - despite only being a stone's throw from the High Street.

The town offers an array of pubs, shops and restaurants, the majority of which are on the High Street, less than 5 minutes walk from the house.

For the obligatory holiday 'big shop', there is a Waitrose supermarket just a 10 minute walk, or 2 minute drive away.

Explore the area each day, with Tetbury, Cirencester and Bath beckoning with further attractions and a long history.

Within easy drive is also The Cotswold Water Park for the perfect family day out.

There are also several important country houses close by including Badminton, Highgrove and Cirencester Park, while the Westonbirt Arboretum is also a particular highlight.

This is the ideal escape from everyday life, in a beautiful part of the country.

The cottage is also within walking distance of Charlton Park, site of the annual WOMAD Festival.

About the location

Chippenham 11 miles; Cirencester 13 miles; Bath 23 miles; Tetbury 5 miles.

Dating back to the Iron Age and reputedly the oldest borough in England, the pretty market town of Malmesbury is located on a hilltop in the southern Cotswolds. Malmesbury is steeped in history and offers visitors over 400 listed buildings, a 15th century Market Cross, a ruined 7th century Benedictine abbey, an annual carnival and many independent shops, cafes and traditional pubs. Abbey House Gardens, home to 'The Naked Gardeners' can also be found in Malmesbury (Note: The gardeners are clothed during normal opening hours) and the annual Womad Music Festival is close by at Charlton Park. The area offers many country houses, including Rodmarton Manor and Gardens, and Chavenage House, a fine example of a Cotswold manor unchanged for 400 years. Just a short drive away is The Cotswold Water Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, covering 40 square miles and offering a wide range of activities, including boating, waterskiing, fishing, cycling, golf and horse riding, plus Bath, Cirencester and Tetbury are all within easy reach and well worth a visit.

Please note: the property sits in an elevated position and enjoys lovely views over the town, but as a consequence of this there is a steep drop, protected by a low wall, into adjoining gardens - pet owners and parents of young children please be aware.

Note: There is a steep staircase at this property, therefore unsuitable for those with limited mobility.
