Sara “I absolutely loved my stay at Horseshoe Cottage.”
Home from home and the owners ( I believe they live next door?) were so lovely and friendly. Even after a friend of mine popped round with his dog (it's a no pets property), they were very kind and understanding. Thank you for a perfect visit, I didn't want to leave the peace and quiet of Lower Oddington. Highly recommend!!!

Jennifer “A lovely cottage tucked away in a quiet hamlet.”
Beautifully maintained. Ideal location for Cotswold villages.
- Jennifer, December 2021We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed Horseshoe Cottage and the surrounding Cotswolds. Thank you for this feedback. Property Owner
David “The cottage itself is perfect and in a stunning location.”
However, a welcome hamper would have been great especially as there was a coffee machine available with no pods.
- David, October 2021Thank you for your feedback. We will talk to the owner with regards to providing a welcome hamper. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner
Gill “Had a lovely holiday.”
Horseshoe Cottage was really nice but we found the welcome pack was lacking in information i.e. not sure how to deal with recycling, especially food waste, no dishwasher or heating instructions. It maybe useful to mention that access to the bath/shower isn’t easy and an anti-slip mat maybe useful.
- Gill, October 2021Thank you for your feedback reference your recent stay. It's great to hear you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and we will check the instructions for items in the cottage are all in the welcome folder on the next changeover. Property Owner
Julie “The cottage was small but beautiful.”
It was in a lovely quiet village. Parking on the lane which was no problem

Heather “We really enjoyed our stay at Horse Shoe Cottage in Lower Oddington.”
It's a good base close to Stow-On-The-Wold & Moreton In Marsh. We did a couple of local walks and had a lovely break in a wonderful part of England. The cottage was lovely, really well kept and pleasant with some charming character but with modern facilities at the same time. The induction hob took a while for us to master and someone had tucked them next to the coffee machine so we didn't find them straight away. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this for friends & family.
- Heather, September 2021Thank you for your feedback with regards to your recent stay at Horseshoe Cottage. It's lovely to hear your comments and that you enjoyed your stay. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner
Joanne “What a beautiful, cosy cottage in a very peaceful village.”
It was a great location to explore the Cotswolds and just perfect for us to recharge our batteries. There were a couple of things that could be available in the cottage to help tidy before leaving - we used the wood burner but there was no fire brush and shovel to clean it out. Also either a sweeping brush or small dustpan and brush to sweep the floors would have been helpful. There were no instructions on where to leave the rubbish or if we could recycle anything. A jug for use in the kitchen would also have been good, but worked around it with a bowl. All tiny little quick wins that would make it just perfect. All in all a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend it!
- Joanne, August 2021It's wonderful to hear that the cottage met your expectations and you were able to relax and unwind in this beautiful village. Your suggestions for improvement have been taken on board and the owners have purchased these items for the property. We will ensure that refuse information is available for future guests, also. We're so pleased you had a fantastic break away and would love to have you back again! Property Owner

The property
Horseshoe Cottage is a delightful, traditional Cotswold stone cottage, tucked away down a quiet lane in Lower Oddington, an idyllic village just a two miles from the attractive market town of Stow-on-the-Wold.
This cottage really is the perfect, romantic getaway for couples.
The ground floor accommodation is arranged in one, open plan room, comprising of a modern kitchen, complete with all the appliances that you might need for a relaxing break, and breakfast bar, where you can enjoy a leisurely morning coffee, or a more substantial and beautifully prepared meal.
The sitting area is the perfect place to relax and unwind; either day-dreaming in front of the glorious log-burner, or kick back and relax with a good book.
On the first floor you will find the beautiful, but very simply furnished whitewashed bedroom, giving the space a light and airy feel.
You will also find the luxurious en-suite bathroom; complete with a cleverly designed roll-top bath and rainhead shower.
To the front of the cottage the outside space is limited, but with sufficient space for guests to enjoy a spot of al-fresco dining, or just a glass of something bubbly!
If self-catering isn't your thing, then don't worry; two hundred yards away you have The Fox Inn (though at the time of writing this pub is closed for re-development, with a view to it re-opening in 2022).
Alternatively one mile away, in the adjoining village of Upper Oddington, you find the highly regarded Horse and Groom.
If you intend to explore the area, then start in Stow on the Wold.
At nearly 800ft, Stow is the highest of the Cotswold towns, located on the Roman Fosse Way and at the point where several roads meet, hence an important trading centre.
It has a long history, it probably dates from a prehistoric fortified settlement on top of the hill, and had a special importance in the English Civil War - the names of many of the pubs and hotels bearing testament to this.
Travel approximately 6 miles, and you will find yourself in the picturesque town of Bourton on the Water, frequently referred to as the Venice of the Cotswolds.
Other notable towns only a short drive from the cottage include Burford, Broadway and Woodstock (the location of Blenheim Palace, and definitely worth a visit.
All in all Horseshoe Cottage is the perfect location for couples looking for a few days peace and quiet.
Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
