“So, first the minor issues and there were 2.”

    1) Some of the cutlery and plates were dirty on arrival, no drama straight into the dishwasher and can understand that they can be missed by the cleaners. 2) Shower room basin tap is too short so water goes all over the unit. Mentioning this as it seems a shame to ruin it with water damage. BUT, if that's all we could find to mention from a negative viewpoint then its nothing. The cottage is fantastic. Great location in a lovely town and whilst on a main road we always found parking locally so ...

Great location in a lovely town and whilst on a main road we always found parking locally so no issue. The cottage is well maintained and has everything you need for a lovely stay. Bedrooms were cosy and comfortable and the kitchen is great. We shall most certainly go back as we absolutely loved it. Thank you!

The property

Halfpenny Cottage is a charming semi-detached house in the Gloucestershire town of Lechlade.

Ideally situated on the banks of the Thames, just outside the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Halfpenny Cottage is an excellent alternative for couples or a small family of four.

You'll feel right at home in the bright and airy living area, where you can kick-back and relax on the plush sofa and watch your favourite show.

In the fully-equipped kitchen/dining area, prepare your favourite foods to enjoy at the dining table for four over a bottle of wine, or alfresco in your very own private garden.

The ground level is completed by a convenient boot room and a cloakroom.

After a long day of sightseeing, head up to the first floor, where you can relax in one of the two attractively appointed bedrooms, a king-size and a double, both with lots of storage space and access to a sleek shower room.

Take a stroll through the town, where you can eat at the Riverside, The Swan Inn and Trout Inn, stock up on necessities at the convenience store, take a boat trip on the River Thames, visit the Cotswold Christmas Shop, picnic in Riverside Park, or continue on to Buscot to explore the fascinating National Trust site of Buscot Park, which is located nearby.

You'll next come to Cirencester to check out the Corinium Museum, the open-air swimming pool, the historic Amphitheatre, or to put your skills to the test at the world-class Cirencester Golf Club.

Oxford, with its famed university, castle and prison, distillery, museum, and two Michelin-starred restaurants (Magdalen Arms and Pompette), is a little further away.

Halfpenny Cottage is the starting point of your journey to the Cotswolds.
