“We picked the property as it said it had wardrobes in both bedrooms ( we have cottages holidays three times a year and hate it when clothes can’t be put away as at home) The second bedroom was a huge disappointment, for two adults, one 76 and one 78 it was too small to be comfortable.”

It was impossible to walk front on the one side of the bed, making it awkward to get in and out of bed. The wardrobe in that room was the smallest I had ever seen, enough for one person not two. One bedside cabinet, again enough for one person not two. My underwear and tops had to be stored on the chair. On the positive side the bathrooms were good, the kitchen and sitting room were better than good and the beds were comfortable. The extras provided were much appreciated. I think it should have ...

On the positive side the bathrooms were good, the kitchen and sitting room were better than good and the beds were comfortable. The extras provided were much appreciated. I think it should have been in the particulars that we were expected to strip the beds, 4 people with a combined age of 315, in a tight space really couldn’t do that, and would not have booked had we known. The area was lovely, so many beautiful places to visit without long drive. In summary, the barn was fine for two people, or maybe two adults and child, but not four adults.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We're glad that you had a positive experience in many ways at Peewit Cottage but are sorry to hear that you encountered some issues with space in the bedrooms - we always hope that the photographs of each room give an accurate impression of the amenities and space provided. We really appreciate your honesty on these issues and will take your suggestions for improvement into full consideration. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

The property

Peewit Barn is a spacious and attractive barn that sits on the edge of a quiet hamlet called Kitebrook, itself a short distance from the market towns of Moreton in Marsh and Stow on the Wold.

Located on a little lane heading into the Cotswolds countryside the barn, which is all on one level, is perfect for a country loving couple(s) or family (there are two bedrooms and 2 shower rooms) looking to enjoy the timeless appeal of the Cotswolds.

Inside the barn has been tastefully refurbished with splashes of colour mixed with good quality furnishings making the property very welcoming.

All rooms are a good size and airy, the kitchen is well equipped and the beds are of a high standard and very comfortable (they're also able to be made as singles or doubles - you choose!) To the rear is a garden area which will have a table and chairs for the warmer times of the year.

You're a short, 5 min drive from Moreton in Marsh about 8 mins from Stow and about 10 mins from Chipping Norton, all of which have a selection of shops and well worth a visit.

A lovely, bright barn, spotlessly clean and a great choice for a country getaway.

About the location

MORETON-IN-MARSH

Stow-on-the-Wold 4.5 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 8 miles; Stratford-upon-Avon 16 miles; Cheltenham 23 miles; Oxford 31 miles.

The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh lies on the Fosse Way Roman Road in the northern Cotswolds and boasts many elegant 18th century buildings, which are home to traditional inns, serving real ales and home-cooked food, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also boasts it's own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the town, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Less than five miles away is Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. It lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham. This town boasts an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, and is famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within driving distance. A convenient base for exploring the Cotswolds and the wider area.
