“The cottage was exactly as described.”
It was beautifully decorated & well equipped. “Perfect in every way”- Mr Kershaw, October 2020
Thank you! Owner relations
“Providence Cottage is beautiful, location is excellent for High Street and country walks, clean and cosy yet still plenty of room for 6 of us.”
Would love to stay here again. No allocated parking, but was always able to park outside the cottage in the bays. The High Streets gets quite busy. One thing some ceilings and door ways are quite low so must remember to duck, and the master bed room with the en-suite has a very creaky floor and slopes toward the bathroom, which took a while to get used to. Very minor problems, it just added to the charm of the property but should be aware of. Burford is a lovely place will definitely go back.- Mrs Emson, September 2020
“We absolutely loved our weekend at Providence Cottage - perfect for a getaway from London.”
Exceeded all our expectations and will recommend to friends!- Miss Alexander, January 2020
Many thanks for you kind feedback which is greatly appreciated. Owner relations
“This is a beautiful, well equipped cottage in a perfect position.”
We all felt that the bone how she’d were the bathrooms - it definitely needed one more on the top level but Gould really go with having all 4 bedrooms as en-suite. Apart from that it was perfect. Oh yes, maybe a couple of larger saucepans would be good when cooking for 8 people- Mrs West, December 2019
Thank you for leaving your comments for Providence Cottage. Owner relations
“Extra key would be helpful and also a book for comments.”
Ensuite shower was hopeless, would suggest a new shower is needed. The heating in two central bedrooms non existent. Because it was a very cold weekend, we needed the fire but had to buy more kindling and ran out of logs. Suggest a bigger supply if cold weather is forecast. Coffee table is much needed in the lounge. Would be really helpful to have a few more electric sockets near a mirror as with 8 ladies, we were struggling to get our hair done. Space supply of loo rolls. Would be nice to have a surplus in a central cupboard. We loved the cottage but we were chilly.- Mrs Read, November 2019
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments for Providence Cottage. Manor Cottages take all feedback very seriously, since your stay the owner has installed a new pressurised boiler. We apologise that you could not locate the 24hour emergency telephone number as we could have resolved some of the issues raised. Owner relations
“Beautiful accommodation and perfect location.”- Mrs Jeskines, November 2019
“We had a great time and the cottage was great for a Birthday celebration.”
Plenty of character but beware the low ceilings if you are tall- Mr Harwood, October 2019
“The cottage was beautiful and clean.”
All the bedrooms were lovely. The one with the ensuite shower (double room) had a particularly rubbish shower - I understand its the water pressure and its an old building but it was possibly the worst shower ever used. However that didn't stop us having a great time. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Parking outside was great and easy - would definitely recommend for a long weekend.- Mrs Palmer, September 2019
Many thanks for your feedback. We will have a look at the shower and see how we can improve the water pressure for future guests. Owner relations
“Wonderful location in a home from home in the prettiest town in the Cotswolds.”
Added treat to have garden room and garden to sit in after a day exploring the Cotswold. Excellent guide to house and town to help settle in with warm welcome from shopkeepers and restaurenters- Mrs Cairns, September 2019
“The cottage is beautiful and luxurious has everything you need for a family holiday Could not be improved upon Stunning place!”
!- Ms Geggie, August 2019
“Perfect location and the cottage is absolutely beautiful.”
Thrilled to find that basics such as cleaning products, condiments, spices, cling film etc were available and the welcome pack of tea/ coffee/ biscuits/fresh milk was a lovely touch. The cottage is beautifully furnished with comfortable beds , several bathrooms/washrooms, clean fluffy towels and lots of homely touches. we were a group of 6 adults but there was lots of room to spread out.. In keeping with the age of the property the ceilings and beams are very low so if you are over 5ft 10 expect to be bending down when moving around the cottage. There is the added bonus of a stunning cottage garden with outdoor eating area. We would all highly recommend Providence Cottage for a really good central location and comfortable stay in the Cotswolds.- Mrs Houghton, August 2019
“Excellent home and service prior to going.”
Everything we needed was clearly stated. Thank you- Mr Payne, May 2019
“Exactly as described and an absolutely perfect long weekend stay.”
Booking was very easy, arrival and check out details easy to follow, and the cottage itself is amazing. Would definitely recommend- Mr Brooke, May 2019
“We had a great stay at Providence Cottage and Amanda housekeeper was very good as she enabled us to access the cottage at 3 pm which was so helpful as we had two very young children in our party.”
It would have been even better to have a tumble drier as well! The little things like tea bags, milk and dishwasher tabs were an added bonus, thank you- Mrs Parr, April 2019
“Great central location on the high street so we could walk to all shops.”
A beautiful old house no doubt steeped in history and which has been lovingly renovated into a true “chocolate box” perfect property. The odd low door and wonky floors which are a nod to its age just add to its charm. All mod cons including good wifi and lovely that every day items such as bin bags, sugar, loo roll are there already. Great to have the kids TV room which meant that us adults could enjoy our own company in the Lounge. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and should we return to the area will definately check availability at Providence Cottage.- Mrs Hobbs, February 2019
“We had a wonderful Family Christmas at Providence Cottage.”
The village has everything you could desire....from the Butchers, Bakers & Brush shop and the Co-op was a second home! We would recommend this property. Thank you.- Mrs Godfrey, December 2018

It was perfect and I have already recommended it!\ Everything was of a very high standard including the wifi!! The cottage was spotless when we arrived. All the furniture was kept clean and cutlery, glasses etc. were all spotless. We picked this cottage due to the location in the Cotswolds but also the amount of people it could sleep and the fact that we could bring children. Overall we had a wonderful experience and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We wouldn't hesitate to book again!\ \- Miss O'hora,
“We stayed for a long weekend in early January.”
Its the most wonderful location. Turn right out of the house and your are paces away from brilliant pubs and craft shops. Turn left and walk over the bridge and you're in beautiful Cotswolds countryside. The contrast is stark and makes staying here ideal for anyone and everyone. The house is very pretty from the outside and like a Tardis inside. The house goes back and up 3 floors with 4 very spacious bedrooms. It can accommodate 10 people comfortably. There were only 6 of us so we rattled around. The interiors are tasteful, everything is comfortable and mod-cons are a plenty. Our stay felt like we'd been away for a week or more; a sure sign that we'd had the most restful and stimulating stay. We'll definitely be back.\- Mr B. Bailey,
“We have just spent a delightful few days in Providence Cottage and wholeheartedly recommend it.”
It was warm, cosy & welcoming on a chilly weekend and was perfectly suited to both the adults and children in our party. It is tastefully decorated, well equipped and finished to a very high standard. The location is perfect being on the High Street of one of the most picturesque towns in the Cotswolds with smart shops, hotels, restaurants and pubs literally on the doorstep and also wonderful countryside for walking. We would love to repeat the experience and hope to do so at some stage in the future.\ Mary & Derik Farr, Banbury.\- Mr and Mrs Farr,
“The cottage was large in terms of bedroom space, kitchen lounge etc and suited our group size.”
It was very well appointed and we loved the age and look of the property.- Mr Lunt,
“Firstly the cottage was in immaculate condition, it's central location was a massive draw so we could visit pubs and go on walks without anyone having to drive.”
All the rooms were a great size and there were enough toilets/bathrooms. The lounge area was lovely with a beautiful stocked fire, that made the cottage feel extra cosy especially at Christmas. There were so much attention to detail from the owner.- Miss Leat,
“Fabulous location”- Patel,
“We had a fantastic time.”

About the location
Burford is possibly one of, if not THE most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, Burford is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located mid way between Oxford and Cheltenham (25 mins each away) it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit.
The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits!
With little changing over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all with 25 minutes from the property.
Note: This property requires a Good House Keeping Bond of £300, this amount is automatically shadowed when the booking is made.
Note: A starter pack of kindling and logs will be provided.
