The Cornerstone

The house is lacking maintenance.

The living room carpet is badly damaged and the bathroom has peeling vinyl and the tiling in the bath is pretty grim (mould maybe?). Worst of all we picked a property that had a washing machine as we have a small child but on arrival found the washing machine was full of mould to a degree it didn’t easily wipe off. When we tried to bring it up with Sykes we were told to speak to the owner, which to our knowledge was “Manor Cottages” who did respond, but only to say they’ve passed the issue onto the “owner” who never got back to us despite me chasing. So whilst the location is fantastic and the parking a nice addition that is rare so close to the centre of Bourton, I absolutely cannot recommend this property nor the management company it’s provided through.

Great location to access the local and surrounding areas.

3 minute walk to the centre of Boughton on the Water. (Kings Bridge) The beds and chairs were very comfy and the Kitchen has everything you need if you were cooking for yourselves.

The Cottage is in a lovely location very close to Bouton.

Its generally clean and tidy but the carpet was stained. The shower was broken as in the main head was pouring water like Niagara falls out the side of the head. We were there two weeks it was very hot and no weekend change of towels or sheets. It was well equipped and generally comfortable although the seating was a bit low for us... but that is on us. No bin bags luckily we brought our own. But we did enjoy our stay on the whole. Was glad of the fan.

The cottage is situated in the perfect location you can visit most places in the Cotswolds within an hour and it is just round the corner to the beautiful village.

We had four nights here and would recommend it anyone

A great little comfortable cottage to stay in with our dog.

Great parking space with friendly neighbours. Within a two minute stroll to the shops and restaurants. We will definitely return to this lovely cottage again for our next visit.

Location is the first thing that comes to mind about this property - quiet but only five minutes from Bourton's busy main street.

It also has the unusual feature of being larger than the pictures suggest. It's very well equipped and there are thoughtful touches like a coat stand if you need to dry out and excellent wardrobe and drawer space. The owner is extremely helpful and clearly concerned that guests are comfortable.

The shower mixer is not great and the valve to switch between overhead shower and hand held shower did not work. Water drip from radiator valve in main bedroom. Two of the theee bulbs on landing light not working. Front patio/ garden area needs a tidy up. Everything else was good.

Superb property, ideal for your trip to Bourton.

You are a 3 minute walk from the high street…all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay! Had reason to speak to the owner who was super helpful (WiFi) and very pleasant, made themselves available if we needed them! If you need a place to stay for up to 4 people and a furry friend then this is the place for you! Thanks for allowing us to stay at your property it really was perfect, thank you!

A Lovely comfortable and clean cottage in a great location with easy access to the amenities in Bourton.

The only slight negative was being unable to pick up a signal to access any of the TV channels other than ones listed through apps such as BBCiplayer/ITVx and you tube.

A lovely little cottage in a great location with very easy access to the shops and many eateries within the village as well as fun places to visit.

The cottage was clean and cosy with everything we needed plus the lovely neighbours that we met.

Neighbours lovely. nice location. We would sureley book again. 1 little thing you could do is to have a rail in the Bath, this would help people with limited abilities, as it is very slippy.

The quiet location was perfect for a peaceful getaway, and we truly appreciated the calm and relaxing surroundings. The property was spotlessly clean on arrival, which made us feel immediately comfortable and at home. The kitchen was well-equipped — it had everything we needed. Thank you for the portable fans, they were very useful during the heatwave. If we were to make one small suggestion, it would be to add a few hooks in the bathroom for towels or clothes — it would be a handy addition. Overall, a delightful stay and we would happily return. Highly recommended!

Lovely first stay using Sykes.

Accommodation location was perfect. Facilities were great. Only comment I would have would be more large mugs in the kitchen as there were only two. The latch on the gate into the front was hanging off one screw so wasn’t particularly secure for our dog. We managed though. Overall a lovely weekend away with family and dog. Neighbours were lovely at numbers 2&3.

Lovely cottage, exactly as pictured.

We were warm and comfortable. Plenty of hot water, beds were great, kitchen had everything we needed. Private parking was a bonus! The village is delightful, everything within walking distance. Highly recommend at least a week here!

Lovely little cottage.

The 8th different one we have stayed in at Bourton on the water. Might be advisable to tell customers of the lack of street lights around the cottage. We did find the torch in the kitchen on our second night. Property was very cold when we arrived. Perhaps putting the heating on about 3.30 would be good. Apart from that, everything was good.

Great location, very short walking distance from the shops and eateries, just a little bit away from the tourist crowds - for some peace and quiet.

Clean and well-maintained with some little personal touches that gives the place a comfortable and cosy atmosphere. Highly recommended.

The microwave needs replacing, it’s rusty.

The shower was amazing great water pressure.

We had a lovely stay at this property which is in an ideal location so close to everything in bourton.

Just a short walk round the corner to the main town but still quiet. The property itself was nice but felt a tiny bit more care was needed with the cleaning. The lounge floor is in need of a good clean as stained by the door and also needed a better vacuum as there were crumbs etc when arrived. The other thing to mention is that the bath is slow to drain so started to fill up when having a shower.

We had a wonderful short break at The Cornerstone.

We have had holidays in The Cotswolds for 25 years and The Cornerstone was by far the cleanest property we have stayed in. It is perfectly situated in Bourton, close enough to the centre but tucked away from the busy Main Street. The cottage is cosy and welcoming and has all the facilities needed to enjoy your stay. Our thanks to the owners and also the cleaners for a very enjoyable break.

It was just a short walk to the village centre which is lovely. The property was very comfortable.

The cottage was beautifully decorated and in a perfect location for Bourton on the Water and surrounding areas.

Great to have a parking space. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we could need for our break. The furniture in the living room was comfortable but the smart TV was a bit of a pain to navigate channels. There was an occasional doggy aroma from a previous visitor but the weather was good and windows were open. Upstairs was lovely - only comment is that the bath is a bit slippery and could do with a non-slip mat Would definitely go back to The Cornerstone again.

Every thing about the holiday was very good.

Our stay in cornerstone was great, it is in a fantastic location we were very pleased with our choice.

The house was clean with plenty of storage and it was good to have a parking space. It was so close to the main area of Bourton but around the corner just enough to be peaceful away from the crowds. We will definitely be back.

When we arrived there was a dog wee stain on the carpet just inside the living room doorway.

We cleaned that as soon as we had gone to the local shop and purchased washing up liquid, soap, air freshener and toilet roll (2 rolls is not enough for a weeks stay), we then cleaned the stain as we couldn't live with dog pee for a week, and we didn't want you thinking that our pouch had done the deed. Also regarding maintenance, when it rained, there was a loud dripping noise, I think that there are gutter problems, as there is damp around the bathroom window, and mould growth above the window near the ceiling The owner needs to be made aware of these issues as problems like this can only get worse.

Lovely cottage presented well modern with everything you could need.

Parking right outside is a bonus. The outside sitting area is smalll if you like sittting outside. We were lucky enough to have great weather. Overall delightful.

So much attention to detail within the cottage with everything we needed. Perfectly clean and tidy, and the owner even supplied us with some milk and biscuits which we thought was a lovely touch. We will definitely be booking again

Lovely, cosy property with all home comforts.

Property in a lovely peaceful location, walking distance to all that Bourton-on-the-Water has to offer. Only problem we had was poor reception for TV, but wasn't a major issue for us as we were out most of the time. Hot tap of sink in bathroom needs attention. Front garden is secure, but not the little patio area. Despite the few issues mentioned above we would definitely consider staying again. We had an enjoyable stay.

Cottage was very convenient for Bourton centre, well appointed and nicely furnished.

It was very clean and only criticism is that there wasn’t any recycling instructions. We had a problem with the heating on our first day and when reported it was quickly rectified. A very enjoyable stay.

A lovely 2 bed property, extremely well equipped, clean and comfortable, it was a pleasure to reside for the week, central to everything in the town, easy walking distance, we are hoping to return in due course - you will not be disappointed

We loved our stay and would definitely want to come back.

It’s a beautiful cottage, located in one of our favourite towns in the UK. It was the perfect place to spend new year. The only area you could improve on is the shower, it is very difficult to regulate the temperature. This did not impact our stay though and we would recommend the cottage to others. On another note, it did say in the book to let you know if repairs are needed. This was just to make the owner aware it is not a complaint, I just wasn’t sure how to report this. The towel rail in the bathroom needs re-securing, the plug is coming out of the wall, the one that is in is too small for the hole. The handle on the middle draw of the bedside table, in the master bedroom, on the left hand side came loose, it needs glued back on again.

The property was in a great location and was a perfect size for 4 guests with ample room for everyone.

However, it needed more attention spent on the cleanliness of the property, which is not what you expect with the price you pay. The windowsills were very dirty with cobwebs on the inside and outside. They had green and dirt on the outside of the sills which just needed a good clean. It could have done with some more coffee, such as decaf and maybe some varieties of teas? Usually when booking accommodation you get left some milk in the fridge, but this place did not provide this. Overall it was a nice place to stay but was just let down by the lack of attention when cleaning. I probably wouldn't pay the money to stay there again because of this.

The Cornerstone was a lovely place to stay for our first family break with our baby.

The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable with friendly neighbours. The location was fantastic and allowed us to explore all that Bourton-On-The-Water had to offer on foot while being able to quickly pop back when needed.

The cottage itself was tastefully decorated and extremely clean The owners should be congratulated in providing such a lovely and homely place to stay. There is a smart TV but no matter where I looked I just couldn't find any instructions on how to watch the beeb or ITV.

Lovely cottage in a lovely location, right in the heart of the village and lots of walking trails from the door.

Kitchen wasn't as clean as the rest of the cottage so I am assuming it was an oversight. The sink was dirty and stained, dirty cups in cupboard and dishwasher and side not clean, but the cleanliness every where else was great (hence the oversight comment). TV reception very bad and a shame no tv in the bedroom, Parking for a large car also a bit tight. having said that its a lovely place and I would happily recommend.

Quite overlooked and not enclosed at the rear which maybe should be explained more in the details. Didn't bother me too much but could others. Parking space a great bonus, would be very tight with a larger car. Property was very clean and I would definitely return.

Lovely clean property.

Well maintained. The fact that it is slightly overlooked may be an issue for some. The recycling options need to be clearly explained. We couldn’t work out what went where. We were grateful for the private parking space. The location was ideal as it was a short, flat walk into the picturesque village of Bourton on the water. There are many walking routes from the door so we didn’t need to use our car for the time we were there. Thank you for the lovely welcoming pack.

Everything was clean and tidy and the cottage was even prettier than the pictures. 2 minute walk from the village centre, although in a quiet road. We will be back.

Owners quick to reply to my text regarding facilities at property. I was contacted by yourselves as well as soon as we entered property to check all was ok. Will certainly recommend without hesitation and hopefully will return sometime in the future.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Cornerstone.

It was bright, clean, welcoming and in such a great location. We slept really well and the facilities were perfect for our family of three. We've already recommended it to our friends and family and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. The only comment we'd make is that check in was on the later side when you have young children but apart from that it was perfect.

Our family party of 4 were pleasantly surprised at The Cornerstone and its well kept condition.

We understand we were only 2nd set of visitors. Overall the experience was really delightful. However, we would highly recommend the installation of well placed 'grab bars' in the Bath & bathroom though. For health & safety reasons alone. As senior citizens we felt the risk of falling by the more elderly of the populace would likely cause unwanted incidents. A Free standing Floor fan in the lounge might be sensible for the hotter weather. We certainly appreciated the hosts buying two small desk fans for the bedrooms during our stay. Overall ''brilliant" and we would consider staying again . Price wise we felt the cost a 'tad on the high side' as Pensioners and with inflation hitting our pockets as I write we would need to reconsider budgets in future. Thanks and well done.
