Barton Cottage

We had a lovely stay at Barton Cottage in Bourton-on-the-Water.

The cottage was easily accessible and very close to the high street, as well as to wonderful walks to Upper and Lower Slaughter and the Hawkstone Brewery. I'll admit that I did struggle to get the Mini into the parking spot, but after that everything was fantastic. Thanks for the lovely stay!

Booking was very easy and we received all the information we needed before our stay.

We had one challenge with the washing machine and on a Sunday they texted us back immediately and helped us with options to resolve it. The cottage does have steep stairs, but it is a perfect little place right near the central part of Bourton on the water. We recommend it!

Thank you! Some negatives which will prevent us returning: The cottage could have been cleaner. The bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied before we arrived. There was no bag in the bin and it contained dental floss and a pot of face cream. The cottage sleeps 4 guests but only has enough sofa/armchair seating for 3 people. The recliners on the sofa and chair do not work. A footstool would be a nice addition to rest your feet. The dedicated parking space is very small and will not fit a large vehicle. Only a small panel separates the parking space between Barton Cottage and next door.

We had a great stay and the property is well equipped.

Good location to the village. Downside is that there is no footstool and recliners are not working so this will stop us returning as made it an uncomfortable stay as could not relax on the evening.

If you have a large car , it maybe worth checking on JUST PARK for local parking , as we did and found this useful as our car was to big for the front parking .

Had a great 2 week holiday at Barton Cottage.

Very clean and comfortable. Would echo the other review about a foot stool. The recliners don't work and there's no where to put your feet up. Parking space was adequate for a small Peugeot. A summer duvet would have been nice on the king sized bed instead of the 13.5tog. We arrived in the middle of a heatwave and that bedroom was extremely hot. Expected to find a small freezer compartment in the fridge but there wasn't one. Had to send my frozen shopping back with the delivery man. Couldn't even keep some ice cream to cool us down in the hot weather.

Beautiful, peaceful little cottage just a 5 minute walk to the village.

Comfy beds, strong shower, cosy wood burner fire. Only two comments I would make is that the recliner chairs don’t recline anymore and a foot rest would have been handy - we made do with a side table. My friend also hit her head on the low door frame on the top floor to which her response said ‘there should have been a sign’. There is a sign, it’s just not very obvious. All in all, a very lovely stay and would 100% recommend.

We had the most delightful stay a couple of weeks ago at Barton cottage.

We arrived to a lovely welcome pack and the cottage itself was just perfect had everything we needed we did a fire the first night (as we have a woodburner at home ) but think we must of done something wrong as every time we opened door to put more wood on smoke came billowing out so we stopped using it but it’s probable something we did wrong, the shower was lovely the beds were comfy the kitchen had everything we needed and we just managed to get the car on the drive with a few manoeuvres but we got it on there, the location of the cottage is just perfect for Bourton the mousetrap pub pretty much next door is a great little dog friendly pub we also ate at smiths of Bourton lovely food and we had a drink at the Dial house which was beautiful and friendly too ,the village is very dog friendly and it’s a great location for visiting other places too we will definitely be back and will stay at Barton cottage again. I thoroughly recommend Barton Cottage

Excellent location and well equipped,comfortable cottage. Car parking was not sufficient for my Mini Countryman but could park just opposite which was not a problem. We would stay again.

Very clean and cute.

Little back patio area was nice and warm in the mornings for tea and listening to new birdsongs. The staircase to the top floor is a bit low so harder for my 6’1” husband, but doable. Would have loved one more chair for our family if 4 to sit more comfortably but that just meant it was a good excuse for us to walk next door for a drink at the Mouse Trap in the evenings! We would come back. Thanks!

Fantastic cottage, walking distance from the heart of Bourton-on-the-water.

Perfect location as not too crowded by tourists/ day trippers walking past compared to other areas of the town. This cottage was spacious enough for four of us and provided all the facilities we needed and more. Parking was not a problem. We thought about going via Airbnb but then decided to direct and couldn’t be happier. The customer service was great and they called us to inform us if we wanted to check in earlier due to the cottage being clean and vacant. I would definitely recommend this stay

Absolutely lovely cottage.

We had a lovely stay at Barton cottage. Was a short easy walk into town. Parking was fine, we managed to squeeze the rear of our car into the space in order to unpack and then parked just over the road. The cottage was comfortable enough, beds very comfy and had everything we needed. Was very cozy in the evenings with the log burner going. As it was Christmas time when we came, the cottage was decorated for Christmas with lovely little ornaments dotted around and a Christmas Tree which was lovely. There was also a very generous welcome gift of biscuits, milk and wine etc in the fridge. I loved all the little extras, such as honey and jam for your toast and tea, coffee, hot chocolate and Alpen. Those sorts of things were a lovely touch. My only feedback (and I really am clutching to find something) is you could do with another arm chair to sit 4 people comfortably of an evening. The sofa can squeeze 3 people but it would not be comfortable. Also, the shower head is very low, I just about got underneath at 5 foot 5 but my husband is 6 foot 2 and had to angle it in a way that causes water to miss the screen completely. It needs to be raised as high as possible. Other than those things, this cottage is perfect for a stay in Bourton-on the -Water. Very comfortable for a very good price

We had a wonderful stay at Barton Cottage over Christmas and also for my other halfs birthday.

The best location as just a stones throw to the high street, perfect for walks with our dogs meandering around the local sights/cafes/restaurants & pubs. We will most definitely be back!!! Super host, super comfortable cottage and excellently kitted out. We will definitely recommend. Literally couldn't falter our stay, the only little request would be to provide a poofie/footstool but that is purely our personal preference!! We were excited to see what looked like electric recliners as we have recliners at home but they did not appear to work (unless we were doing something wrong of course

This is a fab cottage and is a great base for the Cotswolds .

. a real bonus was the Moustrap Inn Next door a lovely pub / restaurant with a excellent food. I would recommend this Cottage.

Such a lovely stay at Barton cottage, the cottage was lovely and cosy, the owners had thought of everything, left us some provisions which was a nice touch, the owner even called round with a bottle of wine again was a lovely touch.

Lovely cottage, perfect for a family of 4.

Great location, we had a wonderful 4 night stay.

We arrived to a welcome pack of goodies and a lovely warm cottage.

Instructions for our arrival and stay were clear and there was firewood for the wood burner. We were able to park over the road without charge and the owners provided a quick response to queries, including links to places we might like to visit. Overall a perfect location and accommodation for our stay.

Lovely cottage, near enough to the shops and attractions of Bourton, but far enough to feel peaceful.

Loved the wood burning stove. The parking space really is for a small/medium car, we just about squeezed my Kia Sportage on. We will definitely book again.

Excellently situated for all local amenities and attractions, Plenty of home comforts, lovely comfy bed, cottage warm and cosy, great space.

There was a welcome package, including a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, a quart of milk , shortbread and jams.

The sheets and towels were excellent. Very comfortable and great location.

A charming cottage , well equipped and very clean A great base for visiting the Cotswolds and Bourton is a very pretty village with good pubs and restaurants Would definitely recommend and would stay again

A beautiful well equipped cottage, good Wi-Fi, an up to date smart tv which we were able to log in to our netflix and Disney plus accounts, the kitchen was very well equipped, every utensil we needed was there, even had fresh milk in the fridge and a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival, the beds were very comfortable, the cottage was very clean, perfect location, very close to the main village and shops but just far away enough from the hustle and bustle, perfect, loved it here, would definitely stay here again, the only negative for me was the size of the driveway but to be fair that was clearly stated when we booked

Good accommodation to explore the Cotswold.

Too bad about the overflowing bins on the small terrace.
