The cottage was spotless and it’s very central for the Cotswolds. The owner was very helpful and Bilbury was gorgeous. The only complaint was the mattresses in both rooms. They were so hard you could feel each spring. We had to leave a day early as my back pain was preventing sleep for several nights.

“A very nicely appointed cottage with all you need.”

Well located in Bibury, 2 minutes walk from the Catherine Wheel pub, which was really good, the Swan Inn was closed to non residents. There is some road noise, more noticeable at night if you like the windows open. The owner lives next door in the B&B and was more than helpful. This is probably the only self catering establishment we’ve stayed in, that when they state they do extra cleaning for COVID, they’ve actually done that. Too short a stay, next one will be longer

“Generally speaking the cottage and facilities are excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.”

The only area we feel could be improved is the shower the temperature of which varied. Also for older people the access over a high bath could be difficult. From our point of view a walk in shower rather than a bath would be preferable.

“The cottage is wonderful and ideally placed to visit surrounding areas.”

The owners have provided literally everything you could need and more, the kitchen has so many items you could have a large dinner party ! Beautifully clean and very comfortable. I cannot think of one negative about Gables Cottage. Bibury is a lovely little village steeped in history and a joy to walk round. If you park in the car park and visit the trout farm parking is free so we’ll worth doing. The trout farm is very pretty and worth a visit. We would definitely go back in the future

“Gables Cottage is ideally situated right in the heart of Bibery, so we could walk to the village.”

The hosts were there to meet us at arrival time and very helpful with local information. The cottage was extremely well equipped with everything we could need. It was good to be shown around and all facilities pointed out. The cottage was cleaned to an exceptionally high standard and felt very safe in these Covid times. The property

Set in the heart of the perfectly typical Cotswolds' village of Bibury Gable Cottage is a very popular holiday cottage that has seen guests returning for, literally, years and years.

Bibury is as quintessential English village you could imagine, one described by the original Cotswolds font of knowledge William Morris as `the most beautiful village in England'.

We agree and staying in this cottage puts you in the heart of the village.

One of a pair of cottages, Gable Cottage is furnished and equipped to a high standard and is warm, welcoming and a good size for four, it has an attractive open plan living space downstairs where light floods in from its double aspect.

Upstairs are the two bedrooms, equally a good size and similarly attractive.

These are an excellent choice for people who wish to stay (and enjoy!) one of the finest villages in the region.

Bibury boasts England's oldest inhabited houses at Arlington Row (NT), an ancient church, a lovely old watermill and museum, and a trout farm open for fishing.

The location is also a very good spot if you're coming to a wedding at Cripps Barn, which is about 2 miles away.

William Morris called Bibury ‘the most beautiful village in England” and today it is world famous as a village which best epitomises the English rural scene. At its centre is an outstanding Saxon church. So important is the village architecturally that the National Trust is closely involved in its preservation - Arlington Row, a row of weavers cottages was restored by the Trust in the 1970s and its distinctive roofline and gables are one of the most photographed scenes in the Cotswolds. The village has a selection of shops, pubs and tea rooms and a wider range of amenities are available in the nearby market town of Burford “Gateway to the Cotswolds”.
